MBB Minute – In Tuesday action, Marquette and Georgetown battled until the final minute before the Golden Eagles prevailed, while St. John’s built an early lead at Xavier en route to a double-digit victory.
Guard Chase Ross scored a career-high 27 points to lead No. 7
Marquette to a 74-66 win over
Georgetown at Fiserv Forum. Ross made 9-of-10 from the foul line and grabbed six steals. The Golden Eagles (14-2, 5-0 BIG EAST) went ahead to stay 66-64 with 1:27 left on a layup by Stevie Mitchell. The Hoyas (12-3, 3-1), who were without Jayden Epps, got 18 points and five assists from Malik Mack.
St. John’s won the battle around the basket in its 82-72 win over
Xavier at Cintas Center. The Johnnies (13-3, 4-1) registered a 54-30 advantage in points in the paint and outrebounded the Musketeers (9-7, 1-4) 50-30. Zuby Ejiofor and RJ Luis Jr. had double-doubles. Each had 18 points. Ejiofor had 12 rebounds while Luis Jr. grabbed 10. Xavier’s Zach Freemantle led all scorers with 22 points.

Villanova at Finneran Pavilion at 6:30 p.m. ET on FS1. The Huskies (12-3, 4-0) are riding an eight-game winning streak while the Wildcats (10-5, 3-1) have won seven of their last eight.

Seton Hall at 6:30 p.m. The Blue Demons (9-6, 0-4) and Pirates (5-9, 0-3) are both looking for their first league wins. At 8:30 p.m.,
Butler (7-8, 0-4) also will be aiming for its first league victory when it visits
