BIG EAST Teams Go 4-0 on Tuesday; Top Five Matchup in Storrs Highlights Wednesday's Slate

MBB Minute – All four BIG EAST teams in action on Tuesday night were victorious.  Seton Hall moved to 5-0 for the first time since 2014-15, while Providence used a potent offensive attack in the second half to rout New Hampshire.  Xavier put a season-high 99 points on the scoreboard in a win over ODU, and DePaul set a new Wintrust Arena record with 29 assists in a blowout against Gardner-Webb.

Seton Hall 68, New Haven 45 - Box Score 
Tajuan Simpkins scored a team-high 18 points and Stephon Payne logged a double-double (13 pts/11 reb) in a 23-point win over New Haven.  It marks Seton Hall's first 5-0 start since the 2014-15 campaign.  The Pirates have held each of their first five opponents under 66 points and leads the BIG EAST in scoring defense (54.6 ppg).

Providence 98, New Hampshire 66 - Box Score 
Jason Edwards had 25 points, five boards, eight assists, and three steals, leading five Friars in double-digits.  The Friars were strong inside and out, making 10 3-pointers while also tallying 54 of its 98 points in the painted area. Providence outscored UNH, 60-35, in the second half and connected on nearly 67% (22-33) of its shots from the floor.

Xavier 99, ODU 69 - Box Score 
Four Musketeers reached the 20-point mark, as Xavier tallied a season-best 99 points at home against ODU.  It marked the first time a BIG EAST team had four players with at least 20 points since Creighton did so on Feb. 2, 2024.  Xavier knocked down 16 3-pointers and registered 29 assists on its 33 made field goals on the night.

DePaul 93, Gardner-Webb 62 - Box Score 
DePaul led wire-to-wire, reaching the 90-point mark for the second time this season.  Four players reached double figures, led by 18 points from CJ Gunn. Layden Blocker added 16 points, six assists, and a career-best five steals. The Blue Demons logged a Wintrust Arena record 29 assists on its 36 made baskets.

Wednesday night features four BIG EAST games, highlighted by a top five clash in Storrs as No. 3/3 UConn hosts No. 5/5 Arizona on FS1 at 7 p.m ET.  Jason Benetti and Bill Raftery have the call.

Marquette hosts Dayton at Fiserv Forum at 7:30 p.m. ET.  Brian Anderson and Grant Hill will call the action live on truTV.  North Dakota visits Creighton at 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+), while Villanova travels to West Philadelphia for a Big Five matchup at La Salle (CBS Sports Network).
