BIG EAST WBB Minute: Georgetown Defeats Towson on Wednesday; Marquette Takes on Nationally Ranked Iowa State on Friday

Kate Novik finished with nine points, eight rebounds and a game-high six assists. Meg Newman also scored nine points, while Alayna West had eight points, four boards, three assists, and three steals. The Blue Demons struggled on offense, scoring a season-low 49 points.

Victoria Rivera led the Hoyas with 20 points on a 6-for-7 shooting performance from three-point range. Laila Jewett hit five three-pointers to finish with 17 points and seven assists. Summer Davis came off the bench to score 11 points and record five steals. The Hoyas shot 58.3% (14-for-24) from beyond the arc, setting a program record for three-pointers made in a single game (14). Georgetown forced 19 Towson turnovers on 12 steals.

Creighton had four players score double digits – Kennedy Townsend (17), Neleigh Gessert (13), Allison Heathcock (11), and Elizabeth Gentry (10). Both Townsend and Gessert’s tallies were career-highs. Ava Zediker had eight points, six rebounds and eight assists to become the first Creighton freshman with at least five points, five rebounds and five assists in a game since Emma Ronsiek in 2022.
 
Marquette and #10 Iowa State to Meet in Florida
Marquette will meet #10 Iowa State on Friday, November 28, at 11 a.m. ET in the Women’s Coconut Hoops Tournament in Fort Myers, Florida. This is the first matchup between the two teams since March 2006, when Marquette defeated the Cyclones. The Golden Eagles are averaging 69.4 points per game with four double-figure scorers. Marquette’s Halle Vice is leading the BIG EAST with a .596 field goal percentage and is second in rebounding (9.83 rpg). Iowa State is paced by Audi Crooks, who is averaging 25.9 points per game. The Cyclones recently scored 112 points against Mercyhurst, the third-most in program history. 
 
Noel, Givens Lead Musketeers
Mariyah Noel and Mackenzie Givens are the first Xavier players to record back-to-back 20-point performances since the 2018-19 season. Noel scored a season-high 22 points in both games against Purdue Fort Wayne and Dayton. Givens scored 20 points versus Ohio and a career-high 21 points at Akron. Xavier’s next challenge is a tough one as the team hosts #1 UConn on Sunday, November 20, at 2:30 p.m. ET on FS1.
