BIG EAST WBB Minute: Providence Defeats Bryant, UConn Downs Xavier in League Play

Sabou Gueye knocked down 18 points, to go with four rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Payton Dunbar scored 15 points, with 12 on threes. Teneisia Brown was two points away from a double-double with eight points and a season-high tying 14 rebounds. PC held Bryant to under 40% shooting.

Allie Ziebell led six UConn players in double-figures with 16 points (15 from three) in 16 minutes of action. Sarah Strong’s stat line included 14 points on 50% shooting, six rebounds, a career-high eight assists, and six steals. Ashlynn Shade added a season-high 14 points, followed by Azzi Fudd with 12, and Serah Williams and Kayleigh Heckel with 10 apiece.

Skylar Forbes led the Golden Eagles with a season-high 24 points on 10-for-20 shooting. Halle Vice had 12 points, eight rebounds and two blocks. Gonzaga went on an 8-0 run in under a minute to take its largest lead of the game. Forbes then cut the deficit to three points (62-59), followed by a layup from Vice. Gonzaga hit two free throws in the final three seconds to seal the win.
