MBB Minute – The BIG EAST went 3-0 in convincing fashion on Wednesday night, as Creighton and Butler each earned an opening night win while Marquette improved to 2-0 early on in the 2025-26 season.
 
Creighton 92, South Dakota 76 - Box Score
Owen Freeman made 9-of-11 shots and led five Bluejays in double figures with 19 points as No. 23/23 Creighton cruised to a 92-76 win.  Head coach Greg McDermott recorded his 500th career win at the Division I level and won his 24th consecutive season opener.
 
Butler 88, Southern Indiana 58 - Box Score
Michael Ajayi posted a robust stat line - 24 points, 12 rebounds, five assists - in his Butler debut.  The Bulldogs scored the first 17 points of the game and never looked back, improving to 83-5 in their last 88 non-conference home games. 
 
Marquette 100, Southern 82 - Box Score
Chase Ross led the way with 23 points, six boards, and six assists as five Golden Eagles reached double-digits in the win.  Marquette used a 19-5 run in the second half to open up a 21-point advantage in the win.  Shaka Smart earned his 100th victory as the Marquette head coach.
