NEW YORK – St. John’s junior guard Brooke Moore averaged 21.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in a 3-0 week to be named the BIG EAST Player of the Week. Creighton freshman guard Neleigh Gessert knocked down a career-high 25 points in the win at Northern Arizona to earn freshman of the week.
 
Butler sophomore guard Lily Zeinstra, UConn sophomore forward Sarah Strong, Georgetown graduate student guard Laila Jewett, Marquette junior forward Skylar Forbes and Villanova junior forward Brynn McCurry were named to this week’s honor roll.

BIG EAST Player of the Week
Brooke Moore, St. John’s, Jr., G

Moore averaged 21.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in a 3-0 week against CCSU (71-46), Georgia Tech (77-75) and Memphis (84-73). The junior shot 60% from the field, 57.1% from three, and 80.6% from the foul line through the three games. Moore recorded three straight 20-plus point performances and had two double-doubles in the week.

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Neleigh Gessert, Creighton, Fr., G
In the 86-62 win at Northern Arizona, Gessert had a career-high game with 25 points in 26 minutes of workShe scored 22 of her game-high 25 points in the final 20 minutes, connecting on six three-pointers.

BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Lily Zeinstra, Butler, So., G 
Zeinstra averaged 15.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4 assists and two steals in a 1-1 week at the Fort Meyers Tip-Off. The sophomore set career-highs in points on Friday (19) and assists (6) against Dayton.
 
Sarah Strong, UConn, So., F
Strong had 14 points, six rebounds, a career-high eight assists, and six steals in the Huskies’ conference opener versus Xavier.

Laila Jewett, Georgetown, Gr., G
In the 94-67 win over Towson, Jewett hit five three-pointers to finish with 17 points and seven assists. Earlier in the week, she scored 11 points and added four assists in the 93-57 victory over Elon.

Skylar Forbes, Marquette, Jr., F
Forbes averaged 18.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game against No. 10 Iowa State (73-84) and Gonzaga (61-65) at the Coconut Hoops in Fort Myers. Forbes scored a season-high 24 points against Gonzaga on 10-of-20 shooting.
 
Brynn McCurry, Villanova, Jr., F
McCurry tied her career high with 18 points, adding seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals in the 66-54 win versus La Salle. The junior went 7-for-13 from the field and 4-for-6 from the free-throw line.
