NEW YORK – Three BIG EAST volleyball teams heard their names called on Sunday during the 2025 NCAA Championship Selection Show as #12 Creighton, which earned the league’s automatic bid, was joined in the field by at-large selections Marquette and Xavier. The three selections are the Conference’s most since 2019.
The tournament begins with the first and second rounds on Dec. 4-5 or Dec. 5-6 at campus sites. Regionals are slated for Dec. 11-14 at campus sites. The 2025 NCAA Volleyball Championship will take place at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, MO. Four teams will compete in the semifinals on Dec. 18 with the winners advancing to the final on Dec. 21.
The No. 3 seed in the Kentucky region, Creighton (25-5, 16-0) will host the first two rounds of the tournament for the fifth straight year. The Bluejays will face Northern Colorado on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Creighton earned the league’s automatic bid after winning its sixth consecutive, and 11th overall, BIG EAST Championship. The Bluejays make their 14th straight, and 15th overall, NCAA Tournament appearance. Last season, Creighton reached the NCAA Regional Finals after defeating South Dakota (3-0), Ole Miss (3-0), and #13 Texas (3-1).
Marquette (17-10, 11-5) will face Western Kentucky on Friday, Dec. 5 at 4:00 p.m. ET in Louisville. The Golden Eagles have reached the NCAA Tournament in 13 of the last 14 seasons with their lone absence coming in 2021 due to a reduced tournament field. Last year, Marquette advanced to the NCAA Regional Semifinals following victories over Florida Gulf Coast (3-0) and #17 Utah (3-2).
The No. 8 seed in the Pittsburgh region, Xavier (26-4, 14-2) will face Michigan on Friday, Dec. 5 at 4:00 p.m. ET in Pittsburgh. The Musketeers make their third overall NCAA Tournament appearance, and first since 2007, after recording a program-best 26 wins and earning the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST Championship for the first time in team history.
