MBB Minute: Tuesday night featured the BIG EAST openers for UConn and St. John's. In Hartford, the No. 5/5 Huskies beat Butler, 79-60, led by Solo Ball's 26 point effort. The Red Storm downed DePaul, 79-66, paced by Dylan Darling's season-high 17 points at Carnesecca Arena.

Solo Ball poured in a career-best 26 points (8-14 FG; 3-6 3FG), leading four Huskies in double figures. Butler led by seven early in the first half before No. 5/5 UConn settled in defensively, holding the Bulldogs to 29.5% shooting for the game while blocking a season-high 13 shots. Tarris Reed Jr. finished with 16 points, five boards, and three blocks, while Jayden Ross had 13 and Braylon Mullins 12. Silas Demary Jr. tallied 11 assists. For the Bulldogs, Drayton Jones led the way with 13 points, while Stink Robinson and Evan Haywood each had 10.

Dylan Darling led three players in double figures with 17 points off the bench for No. 22/20 St. John's, connecting on 3-of-5 from the outside. As a team, SJU made 10-of-22 from long-range. The Red Storm led by 11 at the break and DePaul got within seven (49-42) with 13 minutes to play. Joson Sanon had 15 points and nine boards, while Ian Jackson added 10 points. Zuby Ejiofor tallied nine points, seven boards, three assists and four blocks. For DePaul, Kaleb Banks tallied a double-double with 19 points and 10 boards, while CJ Gunn added 15 points and three steals.
Of Note:
- Ejiofor has tallied 20 blocks over his last three games, becoming the first BIG EAST player to record 20 blocks in a three-game span since Chris Obekpa in November 22-29, 2013.
- His 20 blocked shots between Dec. 6-16 are the most by any player in the country during that span

BIG EAST Men's Basketball Public Availability Reports
Beginning in 2025-26, the BIG EAST Conference will provide public reports on the availability of student-athletes in conference games in the sports of men's and women's basketball.
BIG EAST schools will be required to submit availability reports three hours before the scheduled tipoff time. Under the reporting structure, players will be designated as "questionable" or "out." Availability reports will be posted on the BIG EAST website throughout the 2025-26 season:
