Villanova, Xavier Extend Win Streaks on Monday Night; Five BIG EAST matchups set for Tuesday

MBB Minute: Villanova used a strong second half to pull away from Temple and secure a spot in the Big Five Classic final on Saturday.  Xavier continued to use its 3-point prowess in a win over Saint Francis, extending its win streak to three games.

Villanova 74, Temple 56 - Box Score 
Four players scored in double figures, led by 19 from Tyler Perkins as Villanova won its sixth straight on Monday night against Temple.  Perkins made 5-of-7 from the outside.  The Wildcats trailed by four early in the second half but used a 9-0 run to regain the lead for good.  Nova outscored the Owls 45-28 in the final frame and held Temple nearly 24 points below its season scoring average on the night.  Duke Brennan added 14 points and eight rebounds, while Bryce Lindsay had 13 points and Acaden Lewis 12 points and eight assists. With the win, Villanova and Penn will meet on Saturday in the title game of the Big Five Classic.
Xavier 96, Saint Francis 74 - Box Score 
Roddie Anderson III poured in a game-high 28 points to go along with five rebounds, five assists, and three steals for Xavier, which has won three in a row.  Anderson connected on 5-of-9 from the perimeter as he registered his third game with at least 20 points.  The Musketeers never trailed on the night, leading by as many as 27 (86-59) with five and a half minutes left.  Tre Carroll finished with 21 points, six boards, and five assists.  Xavier was 10-for-32 from beyond the arc, marking the fifth consecutive game with double-digit 3-pointers in the box score.

There are five BIG EAST games scheduled for Dec. 2, highlighted by a nationally ranked matchup at Allen Fieldhouse as No. 5/5 UConn plays its first true road game of the season at No. 21/21 Kansas.  Butler, Providence, Marquette, and Creighton all play at home on Tuesday night, beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
