BIG EAST WBB Minute: Villanova and Seton Hall Earn Victories on Monday Afternoon

Villanova had five players reach double figures – Jasmine Bascoe (21), Ryanne Allen (13), Kelsey Joens (12), Brynn McCurry (10), and Denae Carter (10). Bascoe added a career-high nine assists, and Carter grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. As a team, the Wildcats shot 50.7 percent from the field and 52.4 percent from three. Villanova forced 21 turnovers and turned them into 32 points. St. John’s Brooke Moore and Shaulana Wagner scored 11 points each, while Janeya Grant finished with 10. Moore recorded her 10th double-digit scoring game in the last 11 contests.

Mariana Valenzuela and Shailyn Pinkney contributed half of Seton Hall’s 88 points, with Valenzuela scoring a team-best 23 points on 8-for-12 shooting. Pinkney scored a career-high 21 points with four rebounds. Jada Eads finished with 18 points, six rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Jordana Codio had 14 points, including six in the fourth quarter. Ava Zediker led Creighton with a game-high 25 points on 9-for-13 shooting, along with six rebounds and eight assists. Kennedy Townsend and Neleigh Gessert scored 14 and 11 points, respectively. The Bluejays scored 13 straight points over three minutes to cut their deficit from 84-66 to 84-79. Seton Hall answered with free throws to secure the win and end a nine-game losing streak to Creighton.
