St. John’s Richmond, UConn’s McNeeley Take Weekly MBB Honors

NEW YORK – St. John’s guard Kadary Richmond has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Connecticut forward Liam McNeeley has been tabbed BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Richmond directed the Red Storm to a pair of wins with superb all-around play. McNeeley has earned freshman honors for the sixth time this season.
 
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Kadary Richmond, St. John’s, G, Gr.  
Richmond averaged a team-high 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals in leading the Red Storm to wins at DePaul and at home against UConn. In an 82-58 victory at DePaul, Richmond delivered 17 points, nine rebounds and five assists. In an 89-75 win over UConn, he had 18 points and four assists. He shot 51.9 percent from the field for the week.
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Liam McNeeley, UConn, F, Fr. – McNeeley garners Freshman of the Week honors for the sixth time. In a 1-1 week, the forward averaged 17.0 points and 8.0 rebounds.  He began with 20 points and seven boards in a 66-59 win over Villanova. McNeeley followed that with 14 points and a game-high nine rebounds in an 89-75 defeat versus St. John’s at MSG.
 
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Pierre Brooks II, Butler, F, Sr. – In a 1-1 week, averaged 19.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists. Shot 46 percent from 3-point range. Had 24 points in a win at DePaul (84-72).
 
Jamiya Neal, Creighton, G, Sr. – In his only game of the week, posted 13 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists in a win over Georgetown (80-69). He is the first league player to post a 13/12/9 line with one turnover or less in a league game since 2005-06 season.
 
Micah Peavy, Georgetown, G, Gr. – Averaged 25.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 5.0 steals in a 1-1 week. With a career-high 30 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and six steals in a win over Providence (93-72), was first D-I player to reach all four numbers in a game since 2014.
 
Eric Dixon, Villanova, F, Gr. – Scored 23 points and added five rebounds to help beat Marquette (81-66). Averaged 20 points and five rebounds in a 1-1 week.
 
Ryan Conwell, Xavier, G, Gr. - Averaged 18.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game in a 2-0 week. Tied for team-high scoring honors in a win over Butler (76-63) with 14 points. Netted a team-high 22 points in win at Seton Hall (73-66).
