BIG EAST Player of the Week
Kaitlyn Breslin, So., OF, UConn
Breslin repeats as BIG EAST Player of the Week following a historic weekend at the plate. The sophomore hit .750 with five home runs, eight runs scored, and 11 RBI as the Huskies took an unforgettable series from Creighton, 2-1. In game two, Breslin tied the NCAA single-game record with four home runs, contributing five runs and seven RBI to UConn’s 22-18 victory over the Bluejays. The teams’ 40 combined runs marked the highest scoring game in the country this season.
BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week
Ana Serafinko, Jr., P, St. John’s
Serafinko repeats as BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week after owning a 2-0 record and 0.39 ERA with 23 strikeouts and just one earned run over 18 innings of work. The junior threw two complete game victories against conference rival Providence and earned a save in the second meeting of the series. On Friday (W, 9-2), Serafinko struck out 10 while allowing four hits and two runs (one earned). On Sunday (W, 3-1) she struck out seven, again giving up just four hits. Serafinko ranks second in the nation in total strikeouts (167).
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Cat Petteys, Fr., INF, UConn
Petteys hit .375 with a double, two home runs, four RBI, and six runs scored as UConn picked up a pair of victories over Creighton on the road. The rookie registered two runs and two RBI in the Huskies’ 6-7 setback on Friday. She then contributed four runs and an RBI in game two’s 22-18 marathon victory.
Honor Roll
Katie Petran, So., P, Butler
Petran posted a 1.27 ERA over 11.0 innings as Butler swept league opponent, Georgetown. The sophomore threw a complete-game victory on Saturday (W, 3-2), striking out four and allowing two runs (one earned) on just three hits.
Lily West, Jr., C, Creighton
West hit .600 with three doubles, three runs scored, and four RBI in meetings with St. Thomas and UConn this week. In the series opener against UConn, West went 2-for-3, driving in the game-tying run with a two-run double in the seventh inning as Creighton posted its largest come-from-behind victory since 2017 (W, 7-6).
London Jarrard, Sr., SS, St. John’s
Jarrard went 5-for-12 (.417) with a home run and five RBI as St. John’s swept BIG EAST competitor Providence. In the series finale, the senior sent home the winning run (W, 3-1) with a two-RBI single in the second inning.
Kelsey Carr, Gr., P/UT, Seton Hall
Carr owned a 1.50 ERA and 2-0 record as Seton Hall secured the series win over Villanova for the first time since 2019. The graduate student threw two complete game victories, allowing two runs and striking out four in game one (W, 3-2) before striking out six and allowing one run in game three (W, 4-1).
Taylor Hill, Sr., OF, Seton Hall
Hill had a massive week, hitting .769 with one home run, three runs scored, four doubles, and seven RBI. She broke the Pirates’ program record for career runs scored (148) in Friday’s 3-2 victory over Villanova with a three-run homer. Hill then recorded her 200th career hit during a three-hit day in Saturday’s 4-9 setback.
