NEW YORK – Creighton’s Ryan Kalkbrenner has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and teammate Jackson McAndrew has been tabbed BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Kalkbrenner averaged a double-double while making nearly 74 percent of his shots from the field while McAndrew also contributed with some superb shooting and double-figure scoring.

Ryan Kalkbrenner, Creighton, C, Sr.
Kalkbrenner averaged 23.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocked shots in a 2-0 week. He shot 73.3 percent from the field, which included 22-of-25 from 2-point range. He scored 27 points and tied a career high with 15 rebounds in an 87-74 victory over Butler. Kalkbrenner finished his BIG EAST regular-season career as the all-time leader in field goal percentage, making 64.2 percent.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Jackson McAndrew, Creighton, F
McAndrew takes freshman honors after averaging 15.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in a pair of victories. He shot 9-of-14 from 3-point range for the week which began with a season-high 17 points in a 79-61 win at Seton Hall. McAndrew followed that with a 14-point effort in an 87-74 victory over Butler.
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Alex Karaban, Connecticut, F, R-Sr. – Averaged 17.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week. Shot 54.2 percent from 3-point range in wins over Marquette (72-66) and Seton Hall (81-50).
CJ Gunn, DePaul, G, Jr. – In a 2-0 week, averaged 20.0 points in wins at Providence (80-77) and versus Georgetown (83-77). Posted 23 points, seven rebounds and three assists at PC.
Micah Peavy, Georgetown, G-F, Gr.– Averaged 24.0 points on 56.3 percent shooting in a 1-1 week. Also averaged 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists. Had 29 points and 10 boards in a loss at DePaul (83-77).
Kadary Richmond, St. John’s, G, Gr. – Posted a triple-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists in an OT win at Marquette (86-84). First triple-double for St. John’s since 1999.
Zach Freemantle, Xavier, F, Gr. – Averaged 24.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week. Shot 69.7 percent from the field. Had 25 points in a win versus Providence (76-68) and 24 points in a victory at Butler (91-78).
