BIG EAST Player of the Week
Cate Lehner, Jr., OF, Butler
Lehner went 10-for-13 (.769) and was a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen bases as Butler took the weekend’s series from Seton Hall, 2-1. Her 10 hits and six stolen bases led the BIG EAST. In game one (W, 5-3), the junior logged four hits and stole three bases to break the Bulldogs’ single-season hits (64) and stolen bases (36) record. In game three [L, 5-6 (8)], Lehner delivered four hits to break the BIG EAST single-season record, resetting the mark to 43 in-conference hits.
BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week
Ana Serafinko, Jr., P, St. John’s
Serafinko repeats as BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week after owning a 2-0 record and 0.41 ERA, supported by 32 strikeouts. The junior tossed 17 total innings, including a pair of complete games, as St. John’s swept the reigning BIG EAST Champions, Villanova. In game one (W, 3-1), Serafinko went the distance, striking out 16 while giving up just two hits and one earned run. In game three (W, 5-2) the junior struck out 10 to break the BIG EAST single-season strikeout record, setting the new mark at 137.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Cat Petteys, Fr., INF, UConn
Petteys is the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the third consecutive week after helping the Huskies sweep Georgetown. The rookie registered a double, two RBI, and four runs scored. The shortstop contributed six assists and seven putouts while fielding 1.000%.
Honor Roll
Haley Coupal, Jr., UT, UConn
Coupal hit a league-leading .800 over UConn’s undefeated week, contributing three runs and 8 RBI. During Friday’s 12-4 (5) victory, the junior launched her first career homerun - a grand slam that sealed the run rule result.
Payton Kinney, Gr., P, UConn
Kinney owned a 0.88 ERA, striking out four and holding opponents to a .222 batting average over eight innings of work. She was credited with a pair of victories versus Seton Hall.
Brooklyn Patchen, So., P, Creighton
Patchen picked up a pair of victories while owning a 1.45 ERA and holding opponents to .147 batting to help the Bluejays sweep DePaul. She earned the win in Friday’s 9-5 come-from-behind victory, limiting the Blue Demons to a pair of runs on two hits while striking out three in 4.1 innings of work. In Saturday’s 10-3 victory, Patchen allowed just three hits in 5.1 scoreless innings of relief.
Elisa Smith, Jr., OF/UT, Providence
Smith hit .571, contributing five RBI and a league-leading seven runs scored as Providence went 4-1 against non-conference opponents this week.
Anese Thompson, Sr., C/1B, St. John’s
Thompson went 7-for-11 (.636), including a double and home run, scoring three runs and contributing two RBI as the Red Storm swept Villanova.
Kelsey Carr, Gr., DP, Seton Hall
Carr hit .556 with a double, two home runs, three runs scored, and five RBI in this weekend’s series versus Butler. She was the difference maker in Sunday’s 6-5 (8) extra-inning victory, logging four hits and four RBI including a two-run home run and the walk-off eighth-inning single.
