VILLANOVA, PA – With a 5-4 victory over No. 6 Providence, third-seeded Creighton advanced to the 2025 BIG EAST Softball Championship title game against No. 2 UConn at 5 p.m. ET at the Villanova Softball Complex.

The first inning saw each team score a pair of runs. In the top of the frame, Creighton’s Sydra Seville scored on a fly out before Kaelan Schultz logged an RBI double to send Ashten Pierson home.
Providence answered with runs from Elisa Smith and Gabrielle Lee.
Creighton countered in the third, regaining the lead with an RBI single from Seville to score Lynn Davis.
Providence, however, was quick to respond, again tying the score with a pair of runs. Hanna Aldrich scored on a sac bunt. Then, Lee logged an RBI single to score Sofia Peterson.
In the fifth inning Bluejay Sydney Potter produced the winning run, launching a solo homer to right field.
Creighton outhit Providence, 10-8. Seville led Creighton with three hits to break the Bluejay single season hits record (80). Teammate Lily West contributed a game-best two RBI.
Providence was paced by Sofia Peterson with three hits.
Kenzie Schopfer earned the win, throwing 5.2 innings and striking out two.
