BIG EAST Women’s Soccer Weekly Awards Announced (8.25.25)

BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Maja Lardner, Georgetown, Gr., F
Lardner totaled three goals in a pair of wins over James Madison and #15 Virginia Tech. She scored two goals in the team’s 4-0 victory against JMU. She then found the back of the net in the 2-1 win at VT in the 27th minute to give the Hoyas a 1-0 lead. 

BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Ella McBride, Providence, Sr., D/M
McBride helped hold Northeastern to only two shots on goal in the squads’ 2-1 win to improve to 5-3-1 all-time against the Huskies.

BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Cara Martin, Georgetown, Sr., GK

Martin was a huge part in the team’s 2-0 week against James Madison and #15 Virginia Tech. In the 2-1 upset over the Hokies, Martin made four saves, including a pivotal save in the 86th minute when she pulled one out of the top right corner helping secure the win. Earlier in the week, she recorded a clean sheet in the 4-0 win versus JMU.

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Paige
 Shaughnessy, Seton Hall, Fr., F/M
Shaughnessy scored the first two goals of her career in Thursday's 3-0 win over Iona. The freshman helped pad the Seton Hall lead in the 41st minute, executing a perfect header off a cross. She later added her second goal of the night in the 74th minute.

BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Talia Sommer, Butler, Sr., M

Sommer finished a 1-0-1 week with one goal and three assists against Illinois State and Purdue.

Courtnee Pickles, Providence, Fr., F
Pickles scored her first collegiate goal that marked the game-winning goal in the 2-1 win at Northeastern.

Kayla Bower, St. John’s, Sr., GK
Bower logged her first career solo shutout and tallied a career-best five saves against Saint Joseph's.

Madison Mariani, St. John’s, So., F
Mariani netted the game-winner scoring her first collegiate goal in the 66th minute to lift the Red Storm past St. Joseph’s, 1-0.

Natalie Bain, Xavier, Sr., D
Bain anchored a Xavier backline for 83 minutes in the shutout of Cincinnati. She also scored a first-half insurance goal in the 3-0 win.
