BIG EAST Announces 2025-26 Men's Basketball Schedule

NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference announced its 2025-26 men’s basketball schedule today. For the sixth straight season, the schedule includes 110 games in a double round-robin format. The full slate of game times, arena designations, and television information will be announced at a later date.

The upcoming season marks the first of a six-year media agreement, which will span from 2025-26 through 2030-31, encompassing coverage on FOX Sports (FOX, FS1), NBC Sports (NBC, Peacock), and TNT Sports (TNT, TBS, truTV and Max).  The agreement will provide major national broadcast, cable, and direct-to-consumer streaming coverage of BIG EAST men’s and women’s basketball games.

FOX Sports, the BIG EAST’s television partner for the last 12 years, will continue as the conference’s lead network provider, with NBC Sports and TNT Sports also providing comprehensive BIG EAST basketball coverage:
  • FOX Sports will feature at least 80 BIG EAST men’s and women’s basketball contests across the regular season and postseason beginning in 2025-26. In addition, the FOX broadcast network will remain the home of the BIG EAST Men’s Tournament Final through 2031.
  • Peacock and NBC Sports will present more than 60 men’s and women’s regular season and BIG EAST Tournament games.  Peacock launched its coverage of BIG EAST men’s basketball in 2024-25 with a package of 25 regular season games and five early round and quarterfinal conference tournament games.
  • TNT Sports will feature more than 65 regular season BIG EAST men's and women's basketball games airing on TNT – as its primary network – along with TBS, truTV and Max, beginning with the 2025-26 season.
For the 44th consecutive year, the BIG EAST Tournament at Madison Square Garden will be played March 11-14. It is college basketball’s longest running conference postseason tournament played at the same venue.

Conference play begins in December with 15 games, starting on Saturday, Dec. 13, when Butler hosts Providence.  St. John's - the defending BIG EAST regular season and tournament champion - opens its league slate on Tuesday, Dec. 16, hosting DePaul.  Xavier, with new head coach Richard Pitino, hosts Creighton on Wednesday, Dec. 17 in the league opener for both schools.

A reunion of sorts will take place in Newark on Tuesday, Dec. 23, as Kevin Willard makes his Villanova coaching debut against Seton Hall.  Willard spent 12 years (2010-22) at the helm of the Pirates, highlighted by capturing the 2016 BIG EAST Championship.  The month ends with three contests slated for New Year’s Eve: St. John’s at Georgetown, DePaul at Villanova, and Connecticut at Xavier.

January begins with a trio of matchups - Providence at St. John's; Villanova at Butler; and Xavier at DePaul.  On Jan. 19, Providence will travel to Marquette on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  On Saturday, Jan. 24, father and son face off as St. John's visits Xavier.  The Pitinos meet again on Monday, Feb. 9, in New York City.

Wall-to-wall BIG EAST action can be seen on weekends from January to March, notably January 10 and February 21 - featuring five games on each of those days.  A pair of high-profile matchups featuring the last two BIG EAST tournament champions - UConn and St. John's - take place in February.  The Huskies travel to New York City on Friday, Feb. 6.  The Red Storm return to Connecticut to close out the regular season series on Wednesday, Feb. 25.

The regular season concludes March 6-7, with a slate of five games, beginning with St. John's visiting Seton Hall on Friday, March 6 and four contests on March 7 - the final day of the regular season.

The BIG EAST saw five teams advance to the 2025 NCAA Tournament - St. John's, Creighton, Marquette, Connecticut, and Xavier.  Four teams - Butler, Georgetown, DePaul, and Villanova - represented the conference in the inaugural College Basketball Crown event in Las Vegas.

The BIG EAST has averaged five bids in each of the last 12 NCAA Tournaments.  Over the last three years, the league has compiled a stellar 26-11 (.703) record in NCAA Tournament play, including two NCAA Championships (Connecticut).
