Butler, Marquette Selected for BIG EAST Weekly Cross Country Awards

NEW YORK – Butler's Hannah Moore and Marquette's Dylan Riniker have been selected as the BIG EAST Athletes of the Week in Cross Country.  Moore was the Bulldogs' top finisher in the blue race at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational this past Friday, while Riniker led the Golden Eagles on the men's side in the gold race at the same meet.

Moore was the top finisher for Butler for the second time in two races this season, crossing the line in 48th place in the blue race at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational.  Moore covered the five-kilometer race in a time of 17:09.9.  She helped lead Butler to a 14th place finish among the 20-field that featured a number of nationally ranked teams.

Dylan Riniker, Marquette, So.
Riniker placed fourth overall in the gold race at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational, clocking a time of 24:03.0 for the eight-kilometer course.  The time marked his fastest on an 8K cross country course for his career, leading the Golden Eagles to a third place finish as a team.  Riniker has not finished below fifth place overall in a meet this season. 

Women's Notes – Taylor Rorick of Creighton placed second overall at the SDSU Classic in South Dakota...Rorick crossed the line in the six-kilometer race in a time of 22:56.8, marking her sixth career top 10 individual finish...the Bluejays won the team title with 47 points, placing three runners among the top 10 and all five scorers among the top 17...Butler was 14th overall as a team in the blue race at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite, as all five finishers for the Bulldogs placed among the top 100 of the 20-team field...Isabelle Wiebe was Marquette's top finisher in the gold race at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite, clocking 18:34.8 for the five-kilometer race, pacing Marquette to a 20th place finish as a team. 

Men's Notes – Creighton's Tommy Murray took first place at the Briar Cliff Invitational in South Sioux City, Neb., winning his first collegiate race...Murray covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 25:28.7, besting teammate Andrew Sauer by six seconds...the Bluejays captured the team title at the meet...three Marquette runners placed among the top 26 overall of the gold race at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite, with the top five scorers averaging a time of 24:40 on the 8K course.

In The Polls – The USTFCCCA national poll #3 was released on Tuesday, Oct. 6.  On the women's poll, Providence ranks No. 24.  For the men, Butler is No. 21, while Villanova sits at No. 24.  Georgetown moved into the rankings at No. 30.
