BIG EAST WBB Minute: Regular-Season Play Concludes on Sunday

Sunday Schedule
The BIG EAST Women’s Basketball regular season schedule concludes on Sunday, March 1, with five games. Creighton heads to Xavier for a 1 p.m. tip on ESPN+, followed by DePaul at Georgetown at 2 p.m. (ESPN+). Seton Hall-Butler (3:30 p.m.) and Marquette-Providence (5:30 p.m.) will both air on Peacock. 
 
At 7:30 p.m., top-ranked UConn and St. John’s will faceoff at Madison Square Garden on TNT/truTV. The two teams will meet at MSG for the first time in a decade. The game marks the Johnnies’ third-straight season playing at the arena and the first-ever standalone game.

* The Huskies will serve as the No. 1 seed and have earned a first-round bye
* Villanova has clinched the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye
* Seton Hall has secured a top-five seed and a first-round bye
* Marquette has secured a top-five seed and a first-round bye
* Providence has clinched the No. 7 seed

Butler 71 at DePaul 64

Anna Wypych led all players with a career-high 21 points on 50% shooting for Butler. Saniya Jackson registered her second double-double of the season with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Lily Zeinstra scored 13 points, while Mallory Miller dished a career-high seven assists. DePaul had four players score double figures – Michele Ojo (14), Meg Newman (12), Natiah Nelson (11) and Devin Hagemann (10). Newman added five rebounds and two assists. The Bulldogs took a 50-43 lead heading into the fourth quarter. DePaul put together an 8-0 run to cut Butler’s 10-point lead to two with just over six minutes left. Wypych connected on a three-pointer to increase the Bulldogs’ lead to five with two minutes remaining (63-58), as the team held on for the win.
 
at Marquette 77, Xavier 65 
Box Score
Marquette’s Halle Vice and Skylar Forbes combined for 41 points with 22 and 19 points, respectively. Forbes added seven rebounds and two blocks. Lee Volker finished with 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Kennedi Perkins scored 10 points to go with five boards and four assists. Mariyah Noel poured in a game-high 24 points on an efficient 11-for-18 shooting from the field for Xavier. Mackenzie Givens chipped in 20 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals. The Musketeers got within one (53-52) at the 7:44 mark in the fourth quarter. Marquette went on a 14-4 run to give MU an 11-point advantage with 2:28 left.

Villanova 82 at Seton Hall 52
Box Score
Jasmine Bascoe was dominant for Villanova with 28 points, five rebounds, seven assists and eight blocks. Denae Carter scored 13 points on 50% shooting. Villanova outscored Seton Hall, 42-22, in the first half. Seton Hall’s Zahara Bishop had 19 points while Savannah Catalon finished with 14 points, five rebounds, two assists, one block, and one steal.
 
at #1 UConn 84, Georgetown 52
Box Score
Azzi Fudd (24), Sarah Strong (13), Ashlynn Shade (12), Kayleigh Heckel (11) and Blanca Quiñonez (10) all scored double digits in UConn’s balanced offensive attack. Eighteen of Fudd’s 24 points came from deep. Strong added 11 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the season, to go with a game-high seven assists. Georgetown’s Summer Davis led the team with 12 points, followed by Khadeee Hession with 11 points. Destiny Agubata had nine points and 10 boards.
 
at Creighton 69, Providence 49 
Box Score
Creighton’s Ava Zediker recorded her fifth game with 20 points or more, leading the Bluejays with 20 points. Kennedy Townsend (16) and Kendall McGee (12) added double digits. Creighton held the Friars to 25.0 percent shooting - the best defensive effort by the Jays since holding Georgetown to 25.0 percent shooting in 2023. Sabou Gueye paced Providence with 13 points, followed by Peyton Dunbar with 12 points, all from beyond the arc. Teneisia Brown chipped in 10 points.
 
BIG EAST to Provide Public Availability Reports for Men's and Women's Basketball
Beginning in the 2025-26 season, the BIG EAST Conference will provide public reports on the availability of student-athletes in conference games for men's and women's basketball. BIG EAST schools will be required to submit these reports three hours before the scheduled tipoff. Under this reporting system, players will be designated as "questionable" or "out.” Availability reports will be posted on the BIG EAST website throughout the 2025-26 season. Women's Basketball Availability Reports
