Providence's Sellers, Villanova's Lewis Take Home BIG EAST Weekly Awards

NEW YORK - Jaylin Sellers of Providence and Acaden Lewis from Villanova were picked to win BIG EAST Weekly Honors.  Sellers averaged 28.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.5 steals per game in a pair of victories for the Friars.  Lewis posted 18.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 2.5 steals per outing in a 2-0 week for the Wildcats.

Jaylin Sellers, Providence, G, Gr.
Sellers led Providence to a pair of victories this past week, averaging 28.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals, and an assist per game for the Friars.  The 6-5 guard connected on 60.7% (17-28) of his shots from the field, while making 9-of-16 shots from beyond the arc and 14-of-17 from the charity stripe.  Sellers poured in 36 points in a double-overtime win over Butler on Feb. 4, making 11-of-20 shots - including 6-of-12 3-pointers and 8-of-10 free throws.  He added six boards, two assists, and three steals against the Bulldogs.  Last time out in a home win against DePaul, Sellers tallied an efficient 21 points on only eight field goal attempts, while notching two rebounds and four steals. 

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Acaden Lewis, Villanova, G, Fr.
Lewis shined for the Wildcats in a 2-0 week, averaging 18.5 points, 3.0 boards, 6.0 assists, and 2.5 steals per game.  He connected on 60.9% (14-23) of his shot attempts, including 4-of-8 from the perimeter.  The Washington, D.C. product had his best performance of the week when returning home to face Georgetown on Feb. 7, finishing with a season-high 26 points to go with three rebounds, six assists, and three steals.  He scored 17 of his 26 over the final 10 and a half minutes of the second half - including a pair of 3-pointers that sealed Villanova's road win.  Lewis tallied 11 points, three boards, six assists, and two steals in a home win over Seton Hall on Feb. 4.  This is Lewis' fifth BIG EAST Freshman of the Week award this season. 

BIG EAST Honor Roll
Silas Demary Jr, UConn, G, Jr. 
Demary Jr. averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 1.5 steals in a 1-1 week for UConn.  The junior guard made 65% (13-20) of his shots on the week, including 4-of-7 3-pointers. He tallied 17 points, four boards, and a season high eight assists on Feb. 3 vs. Xavier on Feb. 3. Demary Jr. had 18 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and a steal at St. John's on Feb. 6.

Malik Mack, Georgetown, G, Jr.
Mack posted 20.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.0 steal per game in a 1-1 week for Georgetown.  The 6-2 junior tallied 20 points - making 10-of-11 free throws - to go with six boards and two assists in a win over Creighton on Feb. 4.  Last time out against Villanova, Mack finished with 21 points, three rebounds, and three assists.

Adrien Stevens, Marquette, G, Fr.
Stevens shined in Marquette's lone game this week - a home win over Butler on Feb. 7.  The 6-4 newcomer finished with a season-high 18 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 37 minutes.  Stevens connected on 6-of-9 3-pointers against the Bulldogs - the second-most trifectas in a game by a Golden Eagles' freshman this season.

Zuby Ejiofor, St. John's, F, Sr.
Ejiofor was outstanding this past week, averaging 18.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 1.0 steal in a pair of wins for St. John's.  His best performance came in a home win over No. 3/3 UConn on Feb. 6 - 21 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, three blocks, and two steals.  At DePaul on Feb. 3, the 6-9 forward tallied 16 points, nine boards, and four assists.

Duke Brennan, Villanova, F, Gr.
Brennan posted a pair of double-doubles in a 2-0 week for the Wildcats, averaging 12.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.  He had 12 points and 10 boards, making all three of his FG attempts against Seton Hall on Feb. 4.  Last time out at Georgetown, the 6-10 forward finished with 13 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
