BIG EAST WBB Minute: Creighton Nabs Overtime Win; Providence Defeats Xavier on Sunday

Ava Zediker (25) and Grace Boffeli (23) combined for 48 of Creighton’s 80 points. Boffeli added 14 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season, while Zediker had six rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Skylar Forbes led Marquette with 21 points, followed by Halle Vice’s 15 points and 8 rebounds. Lee Volker contributed 13 points, and Jaidynn Mason scored 11 points with six assists. Neleigh Gessert closed out the Bluejays’ 21-9 scoring run with the game-tying three-pointer, sending the game into overtime (67-67). Boffeli scored Creighton’s first seven points in the extra period, giving the team a 74-71 lead with 90 seconds remaining. Allison Heathcock and Boffeli combined to go 4-for-4 at the free-throw line with 18 seconds on the clock to secure the win. With the victory, Creighton split the regular-season series against Marquette.

Sabou Gueye posted a career-high 29 points, nine rebounds, and five steals for the Friars. Orlagh Gormley added 10 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Providence's largest lead of the game came at the 1:37 mark of the fourth quarter (66-48) after a 12-1 run. Xavier’s Meri Kanerva scored a team-high 15 points, 12 of which came from beyond the arc. The Musketeers’ only lead of the game was with 90 seconds remaining in the first period (11-9). With the win, Providence split the regular-season series with Xavier.

BIG EAST to Provide Public Availability Reports for Men's and Women's Basketball
Beginning in the 2025-26 season, the BIG EAST Conference will provide public reports on the availability of student-athletes in conference games for men's and women's basketball. BIG EAST schools will be required to submit these reports three hours before the scheduled tipoff.
