UConn Sweeps BIG EAST Softball Weekly Honors

BIG EAST Player of the Week
Savannah Ring, Sr., INF, UConn
Ring hit .545, scoring eight runs and producing six RBI behind two doubles and a homerun as UConn boasted a 5-1 record, including a series sweep of DePaul, this week. The senior contributed at least one hit in every game. In Sunday’s 10-1 (5) victory over the Blue Demons, Ring registered three hits, three runs, and two RBI.

BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week
Caprice Bohmer, Fr., P, UConn
Bohmer posted a 2.00 ERA over 21.0 innings of work, striking out 29 while holding opponents to .187 batting. She threw three complete games, including two against DePaul. In Friday’s 11-3 (6) win over the Blue Devils, Bohmer matched her career-high with 11 strikeouts.

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Emma Willers, Fr., UT, UConn
Willers hit .467 with nine RBI and five runs scored, slugging 1.00 behind two doubles and a pair of home runs. She registered a career-high four RBI in Tuesday’s 17-0 (5) win over New Haven.

Honor Roll
Makena Alexander, Jr., INF, Butler
Alexander hit .455 with two homers, four runs scored, and four RBI as Butler took the series from St. John’s, 2-1. The junior’s two-RBI single in the fifth inning of game one versus the Red Storm proved to be the difference maker in the 3-2 victory.
Katie Petran, Jr., P, Butler
Petran owned a 2-0 record with seven strikeouts over 13.1 innings of work. She tossed a complete-game victory in the Bulldogs’ 3-2 win over St. John’s on Friday.
Cameron Dunn, Jr., INF/C, Providence
Dunn owned a .462 batting average with five RBI and five runs scored as Providence took the weekend series from Seton Hall, 2-1.
London Slade, Jr., OF, St. John’s
Slade hit .583 with four runs scored and one RBI. In Sunday’s setback to Butler, the junior recorded her third four-hit game of the season.
Sophia DeMarco, So., INF, Seton Hall
DeMarco boasted a .500 batting average with two home runs, two runs scored, and five RBI. In Sunday’s 4-3 victory over Providence, the sophomore registered a solo home run in the third inning before logging the game-winning RBI single in the fourth.
