UNCASVILLE, Conn. –
Senior guard Jordana Codio was electric Saturday night, leading No. 3 seed Seton Hall to a narrow 63-61 win over No. 6 seed St. John’s in the quarterfinal round of the 2026 BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Tournament Presented by Jeep.

The Pirates will face No. 2 seed Villanova in the second semifinal game Sunday at 5 p.m. ET at Mohegan Sun Arena. The game will air on Peacock/NBCSN.

Codio set career highs with a 35-points and six made 3-pointers, to lead the offensive attack. The Red Storm were led by an efficient 5-of-6 shooting, including three 3-pointers, from senior guard Jailah Donald (15 points).

Seton Hall jumped out to an early spark in the first quarter behind a dominant start from Codio, who scored the Pirates’ first 10 points of the game and carried the offense through the opening minutes. Codio capped the period with 12 points as Seton Hall built a narrow advantage over St. John’s, 16-14.

Seton Hall carried their momentum into the second quarter, igniting a 13–2 run that quickly widened their lead. The Pirates’ defense was especially suffocating during a four-minute stretch, forcing five turnovers that St. John’s struggled to recover from. With timely baskets and relentless pressure on both ends, Seton Hall turned a tight contest into a more comfortable advantage, 29-16, halfway through the second frame.

The Red Storm bounced back late in the half, to cut the deficit to five at the break, 37-32. Codio closed out the half with 18 points, shooting 7-for-9 from the field, including 4-for-5 from deep.

Codio continued to put on a show in the third quarter with nine more points added to her stat line, as the Pirates outscored the Red Storm 16-15 in the period to maintain a 53-47 lead.

Falling behind by nine at the start of the final frame, St. John’s rallied off a 10-2 run to cut the deficit to one with 4:32 remaining in the contest, 58-57. The Red Storm cut it to one-point on three separate occasions in the fourth quarter, but were unable to pull ahead.

Seton Hall led the turnover battle 22-13, while holding a 31-7 advantage in points off turnovers.
