2026 BIG EAST Summer Check-In Series - Creighton

Weekly throughout the summer, the BIG EAST will check-in with each of its 11 men's basketball programs. Highlighted by a one-on-one interview with each head coach and NBC Sports' John Fanta, the BIG EAST Summer Check-In will cover a wide range of topics from roster changes, highlights from summer workouts, and scheduling updates.

This week, the Summer Check-In series heads to Omaha and spends some time with Alan Huss, entering his first season as head coach at his alma mater looking to make a return to the top of the BIG EAST standings in 2026-27.

There are certainly more things that are going to stay the same than are going to change.  We’re going to lean into the flexibility that we need to have in 2026 and college basketball.  If you look at the greatest similarity between Coach (Dana) Altman and Coach (Greg) McDermott, it was continuity; continuity has been king at this place, being able to attract talented players, develop them, and keep them.

It’s become more difficult, more challenging in a lot of ways to keep guys here; kids are being pulled in a lot of different directions.  We’ve got to have flexibility to meet these kids in a different place than what we’ve had to in the last three decades and we’ve got to show a willingness to go there and do that as a basketball program.”

Creighton's 2026-27 Scheduling

“Philosophically speaking, we want Quad 1 opportunities.  That’s what it comes down to at this stage of things in 2026 in college basketball, you’ve got to play the best teams out there and we want to challenge our team.  At the end of the day, that’s our responsibility as a program to play against the best teams we can, give ourselves opportunities to get better before we start a very challenging BIG EAST slate, and to help the conference as a whole.”

Huss on the Bluejays' 2026-27 non-conference slate

Notable 2026-27 non-conference matchups (as of July 2):

  • Nov. 15 vs. Iowa
  • Nov. 24 vs. Michigan (Players Era)
  • Nov. 26 vs. Miami/TCU (Players Era)
  • TBD vs. Nebraska; return games against Gonzaga in Omaha, at Kansas State
Creighton's 2026-27 Roster
The Bluejays welcome six returners - including starters Jasen Green, Austin Swartz, Isaac Traudt - while preseason All-BIG EAST selection Jackson McAndrew returns to the floor after missing much of the 2025-26 season due to injury. Creighton’s 2026-27 class of newcomers includes four highly-touted transfers, a junior college seven-footer, and two talented freshmen.

Newcomers
#55 Oswin Erhunmwunse - Jr. - F - 6-10 - 240 - Benin City, Nigeria

  • Four-star ranked transfer (EvanMiya.com) from Providence; 2024-25 BIG EAST All-Freshman team selection
  • Started 31 of 33 games for Friars in 2025-26, averaging nearly 7.0 points and 9.0 rebounds while ranking 20th nationally in blocked shots (70)

"He's been a guy that, when he's been on the floor, he's been truly dynamic in both seasons at Providence.  When you look at last season, his offensive and defensive leverage, he was elite on both ends of the floor.  The number one thing is that we need to get Oswin on the floor more.  He's got to play more minutes, he needs to get in better shape, and he recognizes both those things.  He's excited at trying to chip away at a couple of his deficiencies.  He had such a promising freshman year and I know if you ask Oswin, he'd tell you that he didn't live up to his expectations a season ago.  Maybe what's most exciting to me and our staff right now is that Oswin recognizes that and he's excited about trying to attack that and has a dynamic season."

Huss on Oswin Erhunmwunse's player development in Omaha

#2 Wes Enis - Sr. - G - 6-1 - 200 - Conover, Ohio

  • Four-star ranked transfer (EvanMiya.com) from South Florida; 2025-26 All-American Conference First Team and Tournament Most Outstanding Player
  • Made 107 3-pointers during the 2025-26 season, including 71 in AAC play; posted 16.4 points, 3.6 boards, 2.4 assists, and 1.0 steals

"I think there are several things that were intriguing about Wes during the recruiting process.  He's been at a lower level and has had a ton of success.  His whole journey - he graduated early so he's one of the youngest rising seniors in the country - he doesn't turn 21 until after the start of 2027 - you're talking about a really young player with upside.  Maybe the most important thing is that he's an elite culture guy.  He's a competitor, a relentless worker.  And as we try to reset our roster with so much turnover from a season ago and not living up to expectations, we thought that was a critical component.  We needed to get our culture reset, we needed to get back to the foundation of what makes Creighton basketball elite, and at its core and foundation, guys that really set the tone as competitors and set the tone as workers needed to be at the forefront.  I think we've addressed that at the highest possible levels with the addition of Wes."

#24 BJ Davis - Sr. - G - 6-1 - 170 - Modesto, Calif.

  • Four-star ranked transfer (EvanMiya.com) from San Diego State; 2025-26 Honorable Mention All-Mountain West
  • Averaged 10.8 points and 3.2 rebounds in 33 games (seven starts) for the Aztecs a season ago

#7 Kayden Edwards - So. - G - 6-3 - 165 - Fort Worth, Texas

  • Three-star ranked transfer (EvanMiya.com) from TCU; named to the 2025-26 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team
  • Saw action in 14 games, averaging nearly 4.0 points while connecting on better than 43% from 3-point land

#32 Wesly Rosa - Jr. - C - 7-2 - 275 - Cape Verde

  • Transfer from Dodge City C.C. where he was named Defensive Player of the Year in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference
  • Averaged nearly 8.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks per outing, leading the KJCCC in rebounding, blocks, and FG percentage (.752).

#5 Katrelle Harmon - Fr. - G - 6-4 - 180 - Seattle, Wash.

  • Four-star recruit rated No. 79 overall (247Sports); one of highest-rated guard signees in Creighton history
  • Finished his prep career at Wasatch Academy, averaging nearly 11.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game in the EYBL Scholastic League

#8 Trevon Carter-Givens - Fr. - F - 6-10 - 185 - Paso Robles, Calif.

  • Four-star recruit (247Sports) with 7-5 wingspan; possesses bouncy athleticism as a rim protector and lob threat
  • Played as a senior at SoCal Academy, leading team in blocked shots and FG percentage; starred with Team Why Not in the EYBL

Returnees
#0 Jasen Green - 5th year - F - 6-8 - 235 - Omaha, Neb.

  • Stepped into starting role in early November for Creighton and shined, averaging 10.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game
  • Creighton’s first player on record to finish at least 300 points, 200 rebounds, 75 assists and 25 blocks in a season since assists & blocks were tracked

"He's always been a complimentary player - he's such a great guy - and willing to accept that role.  What we've done in the offseason is challenge him to do in this offseason is be a little more selfish and want a little bit more for himself individually.  I think Jasen has really leaned into the work. He's shooting the basketball at an exceptional level right now, he's excited about it, and the most fun thing about player development this time of year is when you see a guy start to have the success and they get into it. The next step of his evolution is being an All-BIG EAST player.  I know that's his goal and we've talked about it a lot."

Huss on Jasen Green and what he expects from the veteran this season

#1 Austin Swartz - Jr. - G - 6-4 - 205 - Charlotte, N.C.

  • Shined as a scorer a season ago, posting four games with at least 20 points - including 33 points vs. Georgetown in January
  • Averaged nearly 11.0 points and 3.0 boards while ranking among the top 3-point shooters in the BIG EAST in 2025-26 (64 3FGM; 38.3%)

#10 Hudson Greer - So. - G - 6-7 - 215 - Lakeway, Texas

  • Highly-touted newcomer shed redshirt in late November and saw action in 22 games in 2025-26
  • Connected on better than 40% from the perimeter, averaging nearly 5.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in 14 minutes per game

#12 Shane Thomas - Sr. - G - 6-3 - 195 - Las Vegas, Nev.

  • Appeared in 18 games as a sophomore averaging four minutes per outing
  • Finished with three rebounds and two assists in seven minutes of play against UConn

#23 Jackson McAndrew - Jr. - 6-10 - 240 - Wayzata, Minn.

  • All-BIG EAST caliber forward missed all but four games in 2025-26; 2024-25 All-Freshman team selection
  • One of nation’s premier shooting wings has put on nearly 15 pounds of muscle during the offseason

"Number one, everyone knows his ability to shoot the basketball is elite.  And when you combine that with his size, his length - and now he's added 15 extra pounds to his frame - I think the sky's the limit for Jack.  He's going to make 3's, space the floor, but what people are going to be surprised about by this season is his body.  It's improved at such a rapid rate.  He drives the basketball to the paint and guys bounce off him now."

Huss on the impact McAndrew will have on the CU lineup in 2026-27

#41 Issac Traudt - 5th year - F - 6-10 - 235 - Grand Island, Neb.

  • Stretch-four made 60 3-pointers at a nearly 38% clip in 34 games during 2025-26
  • Made three or more 3-pointers on nine occasions a season ago, including a career-best six treys in a win over Seton Hall
