NEW YORK – 19 BIG EAST field hockey student-athletes have been named to this year’s 2026 NFHCA Division I Watchlist. Liberty leads the way with six selections, followed by UConn and Villanova with four apiece. Providence and Old Dominion each placed two student-athletes on the Watchlist, while Temple added one.
The BIG EAST’s 19 selections accounted for nine percent of the 212 student-athletes named to the national Watchlist, ranking fifth among conferences.
The BIG EAST has a long-standing tradition of excellence at the national level. The conference’s most recent national championship came in 2017, when UConn captured the NCAA title, while Liberty’s Jill Bolton became the most recent BIG EAST student-athlete to earn NFHCA National Player of the Year honors in 2021.
The 2026 NFHCA Division I Watchlist recognizes student-athletes who have established themselves as top performers and enter the season as potential candidates for NFHCA All-Region and All-American honors. The list highlights both returning standouts and emerging talent expected to make an impact during the 2026 season, though Watchlist selection does not guarantee future postseason recognition.
