OMAHA, Neb. -- A pair of victories over ranked teams at the State Farm Volleyball Showcase helped the Creighton Volleyball team move to No. 10 in this week's AVCA Top 25 poll. That figure reflects a bump of three spots over CU's No. 13 ranking in the preseason poll announced on Aug. 10th.
Creighton defeated No. 9 Purdue (3-2) and No. 20 USC (3-1) last weekend in Sioux Falls, S.D., sandwiching those victories around a loss to No. 14 Minnesota. All three of those Big Ten foes remain ranked in this week's AVCA poll. Creighton is one of five teams nationally to have beaten multiple Top 25 teams already, joining Pittsburgh (3), Arizona State (2), Louisville (2) and Stanford (2).
This week marks Creighton's 37th time in the Top 10, and matches the best ranking under second-year coach Brian Rosen. It was first done in the year-end poll following the 2025 campaign.
The Bluejays are one of 10 schools (along with Baylor, Kentucky, Louisville, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Stanford, Texas and Wisconsin) to have been ranked each of the last 80 polls. Creighton has been ranked in all but six of the past 149 times the AVCA has put out a Top 25 poll and 157 times in program history, which ranks 37th-most all-time. Creighton is 263-55 all-time when playing as a ranked team in the AVCA poll.
Including 2026, Creighton has spent at least one week in the Top 25 each of the last 15 seasons. CU's all-time best AVCA ranking in program history is No. 5, which came four straight weeks in November of 2024 (Nov. 4, Nov. 11, Nov. 18, Nov. 25, 2024).
The top five teams in this week's poll consists of Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Kentucky, Stanford and Wisconsin.
Creighton plays its first home matches of the regular-season this weekend, hosting Arizona (Friday, 6 pm), Pepperdine (Saturday, 3 pm) and Tulsa (Sunday, 3 pm) inside D.J. Sokol Arena.
