NEW YORK – Paul Brazeau, a highly respected executive with more than three decades of experience in collegiate and professional basketball, has been named Senior Associate Commissioner for Men’s Basketball for the BIG EAST Conference, Commissioner Timothy J. Brosnan announced.

“Paul Brazeau is an exceptionally accomplished basketball administrator with a wealth of expertise across the college and professional levels and we are thrilled to welcome him back to the BIG EAST Conference," said Brosnan.  "His leadership skills and experience will be vital to our membership as the BIG EAST is committed to solidifying its position as the top college basketball conference in the country."

Brazeau will oversee all matters related to BIG EAST men's basketball operations strategy, including scheduling, officiating, and management of the men’s basketball tournament at Madison Square Garden - now entering its 44th consecutive season as the home of the conference's championship in March.  He will also serve as the conference’s primary liaison with its men’s basketball head coaches, school and NCAA administrators, campus game management staff, and other members of the basketball community.

Since 2014, Brazeau served as the Atlantic Coast Conference's Senior Vice President for Men's Basketball, where his responsibilities included the management and oversight of all aspects of men's basketball operations, including the men's basketball championship, scheduling, officiating, and liaison to national and regional television networks and the league's 15 men's basketball programs.  Additionally, Brazeau has been a member of the NCAA’s Men’s Basketball Oversight and Men’s Basketball Competition Committees and currently serves as the chair of the NCAA’s Men’s Basketball Rules Committee.

This marks Brazeau's second stint with the BIG EAST, as he previously served in a similar role in 2012 and continued with the American Athletic Conference during its inaugural 2013-14 season.  From 2001-12, Brazeau spent more than a decade as Vice President of Basketball Operations at the NBA, where his group provided leadership of all on and off-court basketball related operations, including game guidelines and procedures, playing rules, conduct and discipline, and scheduling.

In addition to his administrative experience, Brazeau spent nearly two decades as a Division I men's basketball coach.  From 1992-2000, Brazeau served as the head coach of the University of Hartford from 1992-2000 and spent time as an assistant coach at Boston College and Ohio State.  He earned a bachelor's degree in Economics from Boston College and a MBA in Management from the BC's Carroll School of Management.
