NEW YORK – The 2016 BIG EAST Basketball Media Day will tip off at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11. Live from the floor of the World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden, media day will feature head coaches and players from all 10 BIG EAST men’s and women’s basketball teams.
#BEmediaday will start off with guests of the BIG EAST men’s basketball tournaments' past as the league kicks off its year long celebration of 35 years at its home, Madison Square Garden. The BIG EAST men’s basketball tournament is the longest running college basketball tournament at the same venue.
Where To Watch
- The BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) will live stream both the men’s and the women’s portion of the day on the BIG EAST’s dedicated channel on the FOX Sports Go app. For the men, FOX 5 NY’s Duke Castiglione will host along with Pat O’Keefe. The duo will interview all 10 men’s basketball coaches and players, including Jay Wright, the coach of the defending National Champion Wildcats. The men’s broadcast will start at 9:50 a.m. with remarks from Commissioner Val Ackerman. The women’s part of the day will begin at 1:30 p.m. with opening remarks by Ackerman. Sarah Kustok of the Yes Network and FOX 5 NY’s Erika Wachter will host the afternoon part of the day.
- The BIG EAST Digital Network crew with correspondents Kim Adams, John Fanta, Cayleigh Griffin, Jay Alter and Megan O’Brien will be hosting the BIG EAST Social Hub – which can be followed on Facebook Live. Players from all 10 teams will stop by the hub intermittently throughout the day.
- The BIG EAST is producing a men’s and women’s basketball satellite feed that will include video comments of a coach and a player from all 10 league teams. - Butler head coach Chris Holtmann, along with Marquette’s Luke Fischer, St. John’s Federico Mussini, Georgetown head coach Natasha Adair, DePaul’s Jessica January and will be taking over the BIG EAST Twitter handle (@BIGEAST) for a behind-the-scenes look at media day.
- The BIG EAST will be hosting a live Twitter Q&A with players at the Social Hub. Around 12 p.m., the men’s Preseason Player of the Year will join the BIG EAST social team for live Twitter Q&A, followed by the women’s Preseason Player of the Year at 3 p.m. Questions can be tweeted to #AskBIGEAST.
- Portions of media day will be available to viewers via Facebook Live. This includes the memories at MSG 35th Year guest discussion at 9:30 a.m., live atop the Empire State Building and through the city with the BIG EAST mascots, and all activities at the Social Hub.
- Throughout the day, BIG EAST Correspondents Cayleigh Griffin and Kim Adams will be taking over the BIG EAST Snapchat to give a behind-the-scenes look.
