NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference is sponsoring a series of admissions related events in the next week where prospective students can interface with campus admissions representatives and learn about the academic offerings of the league’s institutions.  The events include a college fair, counselor breakfast and a graduate school virtual event.

The programs are consistent with the conference’s strategic goal of developing and implementing partnerships across the 10 member institutions in academically related areas.

“We are excited to host the first BIG EAST College Fair events,” said BIG EAST Deputy Commissioner Vince Nicastro.  “These are clear examples of the positive collaborations our member schools continue to embrace and which go beyond our competition in athletics.  We are grateful for the leadership of our admissions directors and look forward to connecting with many future BIG EAST students in the coming week.”

The inaugural BIG EAST College Fair will be held at the Atlanta Marriott at Perimeter Center on Sunday, Oct. 28 from 2-5 p.m.  Several hundred prospective students and their families are expected to attend.  They will have the opportunity to meet with admission representatives from BIG EAST schools to learn more about academic programs, admission process and campus life.

The college fair will be followed by a secondary school counselor information session and breakfast on Monday, Oct. 29 from 8-11 a.m.  Counselors from over 200 Atlanta area high schools and community organizations have been invited to attend.

BIG EAST institutions are actively looking to expand their geographic reach in the search for outstanding students.  Atlanta was identified as the site for this event as it represents an important emerging market for conference schools.

“The Deans and Directors of Admission from the BIG EAST Conference are excited to host our upcoming inaugural college fair in Atlanta,” said Michael Gaynor, Director of University Admission, at Villanova University.  “As like-minded colleges and universities committed to academic excellence and social engagement, we look forward to sharing our distinctive programs and opportunities outside of the classroom with prospective students and their families.”

In addition, the BIG EAST Career Consortium is sponsoring a virtual graduate school fair on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET.  Students and alumni from all schools across all majors and degrees are invited to participate.  Registration information can be found at CARREERECO.com.
