Maddy Siegrist, Villanova, So., F
Siegrist claims her second consecutive BIG EAST Player of the Week certificate after leading Villanova to a 2-0 mark last week with the top scoring and rebounding averages in the conference. The sophomore forward averaged 21.0 points and 13.5 rebounds in road wins at Temple and BIG EAST foe St. John’s, notching her third and fourth double-doubles of the year. She tallied 23 points, 12 rebounds against the Owls, and 19 points, 15 rebounds against the Red Storm, adding three assists in each contest while shooting 50 percent or better. Among her current national rankings, Siegrist is second in Division I with four double-doubles on the year, 26
th in scoring (23.8) and 22
nd in rebounding (11.8).
BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week
Darrione Rogers, DePaul, Fr., G
Rogers picks up her first BIG EAST weekly honor after being the top scoring rookie in the conference last week, ranking third overall, with an 18.5 average. The freshman guard totaled 12 points and three rebounds in Monday’s win over Chicago State, before scoring a game-high 25 points in Friday’s setback to No. 5/5 Louisville. Rogers shot .478 on the week, including a 50-percent clip (6-12) against the Cardinals.
BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll
Temi Carda, Creighton, Sr., G
Carda averaged a team-high 13.5 points in a 1-1 road week for the Bluejays, including a 17-point, four-rebound, four-assist showing at RV/RV South Dakota State on Monday.
Camryn Taylor, Marquette, So., F
Taylor averaged 15.0 points, 7.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Golden Eagles, highlighted by a 27-point, nine-rebound outing against Milwaukee on Wednesday.
Kyra Spiwak, Providence, Sr., G
Spiwak averaged 14.3 points and .412 shooting in a 1-2 week for the Friars, including a 19.0 scoring clip in a pair of BIG EAST road contests. Her week was highlighted by a career-best 28 points off 10-of-17 shooting, including 8-of-12 from three, in PC’s win at Butler on Saturday.
Leilani Correa, St. John’s, So., G
Correa averaged 20.0 points, 3.5 assists and .471 shooting in a 1-1 week for the Red Storm. Her 21 points and four steals against Villanova on Sunday were game highs.
