3/5 UConn 103, Butler 35
UConn head coach Geno Auriemma secured win No. 1,099 to move past the late legendary Tennessee head coach Pat Summitt on the all-time wins list. It came just two days before the Huskies visit Knoxville to take on the Lady Vols. Auriemma is just behind wins leader Tara VanDerveer (1,105) of Stanford. The Huskies were playing for the first time in 10 days but showed no signs of rust, scoring over 100 points for the second time this season as five players finished in double figures. UConn’s Olivia Nelson-Ododa and Butler’s Okako Adika tied for the game high with 18 points apiece. The Huskies (8-0, 7-0 BIG EAST) shot over 60 percent from the field (.615) for the second time this season, while holding their opponents under a 30-percent clip for the fourth time as Butler (1-9, 1-8) shot .289 from the floor.

Two games are set for the BIG EAST Digital Network presented by SoFi available on FloSports this afternoon. Rivals St. John’s and Seton Hall tip off the day in South Orange at 1 p.m., followed by Georgetown at Marquette at 3 p.m. The Pirates are winners of three straight thanks in part to the stellar play of reigning BIG EAST Player of the Week Andra Espinoza-Hunter, while the Red Storm will look to halt its losing skid at two games, which has happened despite of Qadashah Hoppie’s strong showings. Marquette is coming off a win over St. John’s after Selena Lott scored a season-high 30 points, while the Hoyas have dropped their last two despite steady play by reigning BIG EAST Freshman of the Week Kelsey Ransom.
