Bluejays play their first game in 27 days, defeating Georgetown on Saturday; top-25 battle between Huskies and Blue Demons will be first women’s basketball game on FOX.

No. 3/4 UConn and No. 17/20 DePaul will make history on Sunday as the first women’s basketball game to air on FOX. Tipoff from Wintrust Arena is set for 1 p.m. ET. The Huskies are unbeaten in BIG EAST play at 8-0 and will look to bounce back from their first loss of the season after falling at No. 19/18 Arkansas, 90-87, on Thursday. UConn is 10-1 on the year overall. Riding a four-game win streak, the Blue Demons are in third place in the BIG EAST standings at 6-1 and last played on Jan. 21, scoring an 80-66 win at Butler. DePaul’s lone loss in conference play was to the Huskies back on Dec. 29 as UConn scored a 75-52 home win. The Blue Demons are 9-3 on the year with their setbacks being to teams currently ranked No. 1, 3 and 8 in the Associated Press Poll.

  • Rank 1-2 for most BIG EAST regular-season titles and Tournament crowns – UConn with 19 regular season and 18 tourney titles, DePaul with six and five
  • Among active BIG EAST head coaches, Geno Auriemma and Doug Bruno rank 1-2 in career and BIG EAST wins – Auriemma with 1,101 overall and 410 BIG EAST, Bruno with 731 and 189; their BIG EAST Tournament winning percentages also rank 1-2 in league history (.868 and .722)
  • Top two scoring offenses in the BIG EAST: UConn at 85.3 points per game, DePaul at 85.2 – rank eighth and ninth nationally
  • Two of the top four scorers in the BIG EAST: DePaul’s Sonya Morris (18.3, third) and UConn’s Paige Bueckers (18.1, fourth); Morris scored 15 her last time out (1/21 at Butler) while Bueckers had a career-best 27 at No. 19 Arkansas on Thursday
  • Ranked wins: both teams have knocked off top-25 foes in non-conference play this season, with DePaul knocking off then-No. 9 Kentucky on Dec. 16, and UConn winning at then-No. 25 Tennessee on Jan. 21.
  • Impressive conference records: since the 2013-14 season, UConn is 126-0 in conference play, including 118-0 in seven seasons of AAC play; DePaul is 112-21 (.842) in that time frame, including a 106-20 mark between 2013-14 and 2019-20 – the highest winning percentage in BIG EAST basketball, including both men’s and women’s programs. The Huskies have not lost a league contest, regardless of affiliation, since March 4, 2013.
  • The two programs have combined for: 20 BIG EAST Players of the Year, 13 BIG EAST Scholar-Athletes of the Year, 52 WNBA Draft selections and 57 NCAA Tournament selections, including 2020 when both teams won their respective conference tournaments to earn automatic bids into what would become a cancelled national postseason

Saturday In #BIGEASTwbb: Creighton 65, Georgetown 57
Playing its first game in 27 days, Creighton scored an eight-point home win over Georgetown, landing head coach Jim Flanery career win No. 350 on Saturday afternoon. Payton Brotzki (18) and Temi Carda (15) finished in double figures for the Bluejays, while Georgetown’s Kelsey Ransom led all scorers with 22. The game was Creighton's (4-6, 3-3 BIG EAST) first since Jan. 3 after eight different postponements related to COVID-19 and the win helped the Bluejays climb into sixth place in the BIG EAST standings. The tight battle was rarely separated by double digits, with the Hoyas as close as six with 2:30 to go. Georgetown (1-6, 1-6) shot a season-high .426 from the field but was just 1-of-14 from three, as the Bluejays sank 12 from beyond the arc for their fourth game of the season with double-digit triples.

In addition to Sunday’s UConn-DePaul tilt on FOX, Villanova will travel to Butler to tip off the day at noon ET. The game will stream live on the BIG EAST Digital Network presented by SoFi, available on FloSports.  The Wildcats (9-3, 4-3 BIG EAST) will look to shake off Wednesday’s loss to Marquette and inch closer to fourth-place Seton Hall in the standings. The Bulldogs (1-11, 1-10) aim to halt their four-game skid, with their most recent loss also being to the Golden Eagles.
