#BIGEASTwbb Minute: UConn, Villanova Earn High-Scoring Road Wins

Third-ranked Huskies win at No. 17/20 DePaul and Wildcats win at Butler in Sunday afternoon action.

Six Huskies scored in double figures, led by a career-high 29 points from Christyn Williams as No. 3 UConn (11-1, 9-0 BIG EAST) remained unbeaten in BIG EAST play with a road win over 17th-ranked DePaul (9-4, 6-2) on Sunday. Paige Bueckers eclipsed the 20-point mark for the second straight game with 22 points and dropped a career-high 10 dimes for her first double-double. The Blue Demons, who led by seven midway through the first quarter, were led by Sonya Morris who tallied 19 points. DePaul, which leads the BIG EAST in made three-pointers per game, was outshot from three for just the second time this season as the Huskies made 10 triples to the Blue Demons’ eight. UConn, the national leader in field goal percentage, shot .577 from the field – its second straight game of 55-percent or better shooting.

Villanova 90, Butler 53 
Maddy Siegrist notched her BIG EAST leading eighth double-double of the season with 26 points and 10 rebounds as the Wildcats scored win No. 10 on the year, defeating Butler in Indianapolis on Sunday. Siegrist shot 10-of-18 from the field as Villanova (10-3, 5-3 BIG EAST) shot .524 as a team on the afternoon, marking their best shooting performance since shooting .526 in its Nov. 25 season opener against Rider. Villanova led wire-to-wire despite three Bulldogs (1-12, 1-11) finishing in double figures. Okako Adika and Jaia Alexander tied for the team lead with 14 points apiece. Lior Garzon added a season-high 19 points for Villanova.
