Wolf, Chaffee and Sis Earn #BIGEASTvb Weekly Awards

BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Taylor Wolf, Marquette, Gr., RS/S (Waconia, Minn.)
 
Marquette’s Taylor Wolf wins BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors for the third time this season. The graduate student recorded 3.57 kills per set to go along with 5.57 assists per set, both of which were good enough for top-10 in the BIG EAST this past weekend. Wolf also collected her third triple-double of the season, recording 13 kills, 23 assists and 21 digs to go along with a .407 hitting percentage in a four-set loss to No. 19 Creighton. Two days prior, she compiled 12 kills and 16 assists in a sweep over Providence.
 
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Ellie Chaffee, Xavier, Middle Blocker, Senior, Kansas City, Mo.
 
Xavier’s Ellie Chaffee dominated at the net this past weekend for Xavier, ranking third in the conference with 1.44 blocks per set across Xavier’s 1-1 weekend. The senior began the weekend with an 11-kill, five-block effort in a five set win over Seton Hall. Chaffee would outdo herself the next day, picking up eight of Xavier’s nine blocks on the day against St. John’s. On the weekend, Chaffee also hit at a .370 clip, the eighth best hitting percentage among BIG EAST players.
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Norah Sis, Creighton, Fr., OH (Papillion, Neb.)
 
Norah Sis wins BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the second time this season. The Papillion, Neb. native led the BIG EAST with 5.00 kills per set across Creighton’s 2-0 weekend. Sis kicked off the weekend by slamming home 13 kills in a sweep over DePaul. On Sunday, Sis put up arguably her best match of the season, collecting a season-high 22 kills while hitting .429 and tallying 14 digs and three blocks in a win over Marquette. Sis’ play helped propel the Bluejays into first place in the BIG EAST standings.
 
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Jaymeson Kinley, Butler, So., L (Lexington, Ky.)
 
Jaymeson Kinley was steady on defense this weekend for Butler, recording a league-best 6.17 digs per set as the Bulldogs went 1-1. Kinley tallied 19 digs in a three-set win over St. John’s on Friday, followed by 18 digs in a loss to Seton Hall on Saturday. Kinley also had just one reception error in 36 chances.
 
Jaela Zimmerman, Creighton, Sr., OH (Lincoln, Neb.)
 
Jaela Zimmerman pitched in both offensively and defensively as the Bluejays improved to 5-1 in BIG EAST play. The senior averaged 4.57 kills per set and 3.86 digs per set, picking up a pair of double-doubles in the process. After finishing with 12 kills, 12 digs and four blocks against DePaul, Zimmerman picked up 20 kills along with 15 digs in the win over Marquette. Zimmerman is the only player in the BIG EAST to rank in the top-10 in both kills per set and digs per set.
 
Peyton Wilhite, Georgetown, Jr., RS (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.)
 
Peyton Wilhite led the charge for the Hoyas as they picked up their first BIG EAST win of the season on Saturday against UConn. The junior finished with a season-high 15 kills and 17 digs in the match, her first double-double on the season.
 
Rachele Rastelli, St. John’s, Sr., RS (Parma, Italy)
 
Rachele Rastelli finished second in the league this past weekend with 4.86 kills per set as the Red Storm went 1-1. After 13 kills against Butler in a loss on Friday, the senior racked up 21 kills and four blocks in a four-set win over Xavier. This marks the fifth time this season Rastelli has picked up at least 20 kills in a match, and she has recorded double-digits in kills in 17 out of 20 matches this season.
 
Taylor Jakubowski, Seton Hall, So., S (Lake in the Hills, Ill.)
 
Taylor Jakubowski got it done on offense and defense this past weekend for the Pirates. The sophomore picked up her second 20-20 match in as many weeks, finishing with 27 assists and 24 digs in a five-set defeat to Xavier. Jakubowski would secure another double-double the following day, totaling 16 assists and 15 digs in a win over Butler. Jakubowski now has a double-double in four straight matches.
