BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Caylee Parker, UConn, Sr., OH (Windsor, Ontario)
UConn senior Caylee Parker averaged 4.00 kills per set as the Huskies went a perfect 2-0 this past weekend. The Windsor, Ontario native notched a pair of double-doubles, the first of which came in a four-set win over Providence on Thursday in which she totaled 12 kills and 13 digs. Parker followed that up with a 24-kill, 15-dig effort on Saturday in a win over No. 19 Creighton. The 24 kills are tied for the fourth most in a match by a BIG EAST player this season.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Karly Berkland, UConn, Jr., DS/L (Williamsburg, Iowa)
UConn’s Karly Berkland ranked third in the BIG EAST this past weekend with 5.22 digs per set, helping pace the Huskies defensively during their 2-0 weekend. After a 24 dig performance against Providence on Thursday, Berkland added 23 more digs as well as five assists and a pair of service aces in the win over Creighton. The junior now has three straight matches with at least 20 digs.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Norah Sis, Creighton, Fr., OH (Papillion, Neb.)
Creighton freshman Norah Sis continues to have a stellar first season with the Bluejays, picking up BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors for the second consecutive week and third time overall. The Papillion, Neb. native notched a pair of double-doubles over the weekend, including a 23-kill, 21-dig effort against UConn. Sis had 15 kills and 10 digs in a three set win over Providence on Sunday.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Jaymeson Kinley, Butler, Jr., L (Lexington, Ky.)
Butler’s Jaymeson Kinley had a pair of 20 dig performances as Butler went 1-1 on the weekend. She added seven assists to her 20 digs against Villanova in a five set loss on Friday. The junior helped the Bulldogs bounce back the next day against Georgetown, as her 20 digs came in just three sets as Butler took down the Hoyas.
Donna Brown, DePaul, Sr., MB (Galloway, Ohio)
Donna Brown was the most efficient attacker in the BIG EAST this weekend, hitting .559 as the Blue Demons had a perfect 2-0 weekend. The senior tallied 13 kills on a .684 hitting percentage and added four total blocks in a sweep over Seton Hall on Friday. Brown added nine more kills and five more blocks the next day in a five-set win over St. John’s.
Taylor Wolf, Marquette, Gr., RS/S (Waconia, Minn.)
Marquette’s Taylor Wolf added her fourth triple-double of the season this weekend for the Golden Eagles. After a 14-kill, 11-assist effort against St. John’s, Wolf totalted 12 kills, 24 assists and 11 digs in a four set win over Seton Hall.
Rachele Rastelli, St. John’s, Sr., RS (Parma, Italy)
It was more offensive firepower from Rachele Rastelli, highlighted by a 27-kill performance against DePaul on Saturday. The senior hit .460 in the match, and added seven digs and four total blocks as well.
Belle Morgan, Villanova, Jr., S (Fort Mitchell, Ky.)
Villanova’s Belle Morgan led the conference with 12.12 assists per set this past weekend as the Wildcats went 2-0. The junior had her two highest assist totals on the season, finishing with 48 helpers against Butler on Friday before adding 49 more assists on Saturday against Xavier.
