Paige Bueckers, Connecticut, Fr., G
Bueckers sweeps the BIG EAST weekly women’s basketball honors for a second straight week after averaging 24.3 points, 5.7 assists and .545 shooting, including a .412 clip from three, in a 3-0 week for the second-ranked Huskies. Bueckers’ week was highlighted by a 31-point outing, including the game-clinching three-pointer in overtime, as No. 2 UConn upset No. 1 South Carolina on Monday night in what was the most-watched women’s basketball game in FS1 history. Bueckers added six steals, five assists and four rebounds against the Gamecocks. She followed that performance with 23 points in Wednesday’s win over Seton Hall, before going for 19 points and nine assists in Friday’s win at Georgetown. After becoming just the fourth player in BIG EAST history to sweep both weekly honors, she becomes the first in league history to do so multiple times.
BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll
Tatum Rembao, Creighton, Sr., G
After being sidelined for more than a month, Rembao played her first full game since Jan. 3 on Saturday at Seton Hall, leading the Bluejays to the 77-76 overtime win. Rembao hit the game-winning shot with two seconds remaining in OT to finish the contest with 18 points, four rebounds and two assists, shooting 7-of-14 from the field and 4-of-6 from three.
Lexi Held, DePaul, Jr., G
In the 22
nd-ranked Blue Demons’ lone game of the week, Held stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, eight assists, six steals and four rebounds as DePaul won at St. John’s on Wednesday night.
Jordan King, Marquette, So., G
King averaged 12.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and .429 shooting, including a 50-percent clip from three in a 2-0 week for the Golden Eagles.
Mary Baskerville, Providence, Jr., F
Baskerville averaged 16.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 3.0 blocks while shooting 60-percent from the field in a 1-1 week for the Friars. She notched a double-double of 14 points and 10 boards in Wednesday’s win at Creighton before tallying a game-high 19 points in Saturday’s setback to Marquette.
Leilani Correa, St. John’s, So., G
Correa reached the 30-point mark for the BIG EAST-leading fifth time this season with 33 points against No. 22 DePaul on Wednesday. In the 1-1 week, she averaged 21.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals.
Desiree Elmore, Seton Hall, Sr., G/F
In a busy week for the Pirates, Elmore averaged 17.3 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists, shooting .479 from the field. She posted an impressive double-double of 25 points and a career-best 17 rebounds in Saturday’s setback to Creighton.
