A Pair of #BEsoccer Teams Earn NCAA Tournament Bids

INDIANAPOLIS – Two BIG EAST men’s soccer teams heard their names called on Monday afternoon during the 2023 NCAA Championship Selection Show as Xavier, which earned the league’s automatic bid, was joined in the field by at-large selections and top-16 seeded Georgetown.
 
First Round matches are scheduled for Nov. 16 at campus sites. Second and Third Rounds will be conducted at non-predetermined campus sites on Nov. 19 and Nov. 25-26. Quarterfinals are slated for Dec. 1-2 at four non-predetermined campus sites. The 2023 Men’s College Cup will be held at Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, Ky. Two, two-team single elimination Semifinals games will be held Dec. 8. The two teams winning in the semifinals will advance and compete in the single elimination National Championship game which will take place Dec. 11.
 
Fresh off winning the first BIG EAST Championship crown in program history, Xavier (9-3-6) earned an automatic bid in the NCAA Championship and will host Kentucky in the First Round. The winner will advance to the second round against No. 2-seed Notre Dame.
 
The BIG EAST regular season champion of the East Division, Georgetown (13-2-3) is back in the NCAA Tournament as the No. 4 overall seed. The Hoyas earn a first-round bye and will host the winner of James Madison or Pittsburgh in the second round. The Hoyas earned an NCAA bid for the sixth consecutive season, 11th time in 12 seasons and 14th time overall.
