BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Tinoda Matsatsa, Georgetown, So.  
Matsatsa broke the Georgetown school record for the mile with a time of 3:54.15 at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. The sophomore’s record-breaking performance gave him a second-place finish at the national event. He holds the NCAA’s record for fastest mile so far this season. 

BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Shannon Flockhart, Providence, Gr.
Flockhart set a school indoor record and placed second in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:45.67 at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. She was the top collegiate finisher in the race and her time is the sixth fastest in collegiate history. 

BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Diarmuid O’Connor, Connecticut, Sr.
O’Connor set an indoor heptathlon U23 Irish record with 5,567 points at the UConn Husky Challenge. His score ranks second best in program history and eighth nationally this season. 

BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Jaiah Hopf, DePaul, Jr.
Hopf placed first at the Blue Demon Holiday Classic with a 12.54m triple jump. She currently ranks 11th nationally. 

Notable Performances
  • Villanova’s Liam Murphy broke the school record in the 5000 meters when he ran a time of 13:10.42 at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. His time ranks second nationally this season and puts him seventh on the all-time NCAA indoor performance list.
  • DePaul’s Darius Brown leads the BIG EAST after completing the 60 meters in 6.75 at the Blue Demon Holiday Classic.
  • UConn’s Chloe Thomas recorded a time of 15:17.47 in the 5000 meters at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. She set a Canadian national under-23 record and shattered her personal best by 17 seconds.
  • Georgetown’s Rebecca Ochan set a new school record and placed first in the women's 300 meters with a time of 38.21 at the Penn Opener.
  • Marquette’s Daylee Braden set a new program record at the Blue & Gold Invite in the 1000 meters, finishing first at 2:49.90.
  • DePaul’s Jaiden Gary set a personal record and placed third at the Blue Demon Holiday Classic with a 17.12m shot put. He is first in the BIG EAST for this event.
