Three Schools Earn Final BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Honors

BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Gavin Cougle, Butler, So., Sprints
Cougle had a great performance at the Billy Hayes Invitational, setting a program record in the 400 meters. The sophomore crossed the line at 47.16 seconds to take first place in the event. His time surpassed the previous school record set in 2022. Cougle’s mark sits in first place in the BIG EAST.  

BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Cabott Craft, Butler, Fr., Jumps
Craft excelled in multiple events at the Billy Hayes Invitational, placing third in both the long jump and triple jump. The freshman recorded a final mark of 6.90m in the long jump and 13.92m in the triple jump to earn bronze.

BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Nora Haugen, St. John’s, So., Sprints
Haugen took first place in the 800 meters at the Tom Farrell Classic, finishing at 2:05.59 to take the gold. Her time marked an event record as well as a personal best. She now ranks sixth in the BIG EAST in the event.

BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Kaylee Hopp, Marquette, Jr., Jumps
Hopp earns Field Athlete of the Week honors after placing second in the triple jump at the Badger Challenge. The junior finished with a final mark of 12.03 meters, the fifth-best distance in program history.
