Four Teams Share #BEsoccer Weekly Honors

BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Eli Conway, UConn, Jr., F (Mount Olive, N.J.)
Conway shined in UConn’s BIG EAST opener at DePaul on Friday, recording his first career multi-goal game. The junior forward scored all three of UConn’s goals, all in the second half, leading the Huskies to a 1-0 start in conference play. Conway’s first two goals were both equalizers, helping UConn avoid defeat. The New Jersey native got his hat trick and the game winner in the 73rd minute from 25 yards out. Conway finished the game with seven shots and five on goal.
 
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Rodrigo Vaza, Providence, Gr., M (Torres Vedras, Portugal)
Making a difference on both ends of the pitch, Vaza buried home the game-winning goal on Friday night against Seton Hall to help the Friars open league play 1-0. The defensive midfielder led Providence to its third shutout of the season and helped limit the Pirates to just five shots, including three shots on goal.
 
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Tenzing Manske, Georgetown, Jr., GK (Santa Fe, N.M.)
Manske acted as a brick wall on Friday night to lead Georgetown to a 1-0 road victory over Creighton. The junior registered six saves in the contest, including a key stop in the final five minutes of action to keep the Bluejays off the scoreboard. Overall, Manske and the Georgetown defense faced 15 shots and eight corners in the match.

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Nolan McGuire, DePaul, Fr., D (Saint Louis, Mo.)
McGuire recorded three points on Friday, in DePaul's 3-2 loss to No. 25 UConn. The freshman scored his first career goal to give the Blue Demons the early lead before assisting on DePaul's second goal of the day for the first assist of his career.
 
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Emil Jaaskelainen, Akron, R-Sr., F (Bolton, England)
Jaaskelainen turned in a stellar week for the Zips accounting for six points with two goals and two assists in a 4-3 win over Butler on Friday. His second goal of the game proved to be the game-winner in the 56th minute.
 
Matthew Van Horn, Georgetown, So., M (North Pole, Alaska)
Van Horn tallied the lone goal of the match on Friday, the first of his career, to lead Georgetown past Creighton, 1-0.
 
Mitar Mitrovic, Marquette, Jr., M (Belgrade, Serbia)
Mitrovic capped Friday’s 3-2 win over Villanova a perfect 2-for-2 at the penalty stripe to finish with four points.
 
Lukas Burns, Providence, Gr., GK (Cinnaminson, N.J.)
Burns collected his third shutout of the season to lead the Friars past No. 8 Seton Hall, 1-0. Overall, he corralled three saves, including a last minute, line-clearing save to secure the win.
 
Cooper Forcellini, Xavier, Jr., M (Olathe, Kan.)
Forcellini scored his first career goal in a Xavier uniform to lead the Musketeers to a 1-0 win over St. John’s on Friday.
 
Jonny Mennell, Xavier, Gr., M (Paramus, N.J.)
Mennell posted his second shutout in as many matches versus the Red Storm, increasing his season total to four. Overall, he made three saves in 90 minutes of action.
