Men's Soccer 11/17/2025 1:32:14 PM Quintet of Men’s Soccer Teams Earn NCAA Tournament Bids INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Five BIG EAST men’s soccer teams heard their names called on Monday afternoon during the 2025 NCAA Championship Selection Show as Georgetown, which earned the league’s automatic bid, was joined in the field by at-large selections Akron, UConn, St. John’s and Seton Hall. The five selections are tied for the most by the BIG EAST since realignment, matching the five the conference had in both 2021 and 2013. Akron, UConn and Georgetown each earned a top 16 seed accompanied by a first round bye in the NCAA Championship, while Seton Hall earned a first round home game, as all four teams finished among the top 20 in the RPI. First Round matches are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 20 at campus sites. Second and Third Rounds will be conducted at non-predetermined campus sites on Nov. 23 and Nov. 29-30. Quarterfinals are slated for Dec. 5-6 at four non-predetermined campus sites. The 2025 Men’s College Cup will be held at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. Two, two-team single elimination Semifinals games will be held Dec. 12. The two teams winning in the semifinals will advance and compete in the single elimination National Championship game which will take place Dec. 15. Fresh off the seventh BIG EAST Championship crown program history, Georgetown (12-3-4) earned the No. 7 seed in the NCAA Championship and will host the winner between UCF/Florida Atlantic in the Second Round at 5 p.m. ET. The Hoyas earned an NCAA bid for the 14th time since 2010 and marks the 12th time in that span they have been seeded. UConn (11-4-4), the BIG EAST Championship runner-up, earned the No. 13 seed and will host the winner between Cornell and Lafayette in the second round at 2 p.m. The Huskies are back in the tournament for the first time since 2018 and for the 36th time in program history. The No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST Championship and Midwest Division Champion, Akron (11-4-3) earned the No. 14 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will host the winner of Michigan and Notre Dame in the second round at 1 p.m. The Zips earned the program’s 27th bid. Seton Hall (7-3-7) earned an at-large bid and will host a first round match against Siena at 5 p.m. The winner of the contest will play No. 16 seed Bryant in the second round. The Pirates are back in the tournament for the first time since 2022 and 14th time in program history. St. John’s (9-5-4) will hit the road against West Virginia at 7 p.m. in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The Red Storm and Mountaineers will square off on Thursday, with the winner taking on No. 10 High Point in the second round. The Red Storm are back in the tournament for the first time since 2021 and 23rd time overall.
