LYNCHBURG, VA. – The 2025 BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship presented by JEEP begins Friday with semifinal action at Liberty Field Hockey Field in Lynchburg, Va. Top-seeded Liberty faces No. 4 Villanova in the opener at 1 p.m. ET, followed by No. 2 UConn against No. 3 Old Dominion at 4 p.m. ET.
The semifinal winners will meet Sunday at 1 p.m. ET for the championship title and the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The 18-team NCAA Tournament field includes 10 conference champions and eight at-large selections. The 2025 NCAA Field Hockey Selection Show is set for Sunday at 10 p.m. ET on NCAA.com.
All three BIG EAST Championship contests will stream live on ESPN+ with Ainslee Lamb and Noah Frary on the call.

No. 7 ranked Liberty (15-2, 7-0 BIG EAST) will face Villanova (5-12, 3-4 BIG EAST) in the first game of the BIG EAST Semifinals. The Lady Flames were named the Regular Season Champions for the first time since the 2023 season. They enter the postseason having earned three of the six All-BIG EAST major awards. Dara Semmartin was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, Freshman Diane Saint Martin won Goalkeeper of the Year, and Nikki Parsley-Blocker was named Coaching Staff of the Year.
Villanova returns to the BIG EAST Championship for the first time since 2023 and seeks its second league crown, with its last coming in 1990. The Wildcats are led by Co-Offensive Player of the Year Ava Borkowski, who scored a team-high eight goals, ranking sixth in the BIG EAST.
When the Lady Flames and Wildcats played in the regular season, Liberty won 5-0.

No. 20-ranked UConn (10-7, 6-1 BIG EAST) will face Old Dominion (8-9, 5-2 BIG EAST) for a spot in Sunday’s final. The Huskies claimed a 2-1 double-overtime victory in the regular-season matchup.
UConn is led by BIG EAST Co-Midfielder of the Year Sol Simone, who leads the team with 15 points on three goals and nine assists.
Old Dominion’s defense is anchored by Serena Langendoen, a unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team selection, while Sian Emslie paces the Monarchs’ attack with 23 points on eight goals and seven assists.
