No. 1 Georgetown and No. 2 Xavier Advance to the 2025 BIG EAST Women’s Soccer Championship Game

BOYDS, Md. – No. 1 Georgetown and No. 2 Xavier will meet in the 2025 BIG EAST Women's Soccer Championship game after earning wins in the semifinals on Thursday night. The Musketeers defeated No. 2 UConn 7-0 in the first match, while the Hoyas won 2-0 against No. 4 seed Creighton. 

Sunday's title match is slated for noon and will stream live on ESPN+ with Monika Moore and Anthony Mazzini on the call. This is the third time in the last four years that the two teams will meet in the championship game.

The winner of the 2025 BIG EAST Women’s Soccer Championship presented by JEEP will receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Tournament Records
Xavier’s seven goals against UConn are tied for the most goals in a tournament game, recently done by Notre Dame against St. John’s in the 2004 quarterfinals.  

Tickets
General admission for adults to the events starts at $15 for a single session, while a tournament package is available starting at $20. In addition, a group discount is available for groups of 10 or more individuals. Large group tickets start at $8 per person for one session or $12 per person for both the semifinal and championship games. Military and children (3-17) discounts are also available. Military discounts will be provided when tickets are purchased in person at the venue with a current military ID. Tickets will be made available for purchase HERE.

Samantha Erbach put Xavier on the board first with a penalty kick in the 30th minute. Erbach gave the Musketeers a 2-0 lead on an assist from Emma Flick just before halftime. Elin Hansson scored Xavier’s third goal of the game at the 46:43 mark, followed by a Regan Dancer goal in the 55th minute for the 4-0 advantage. Erbach recorded her third goal of the contest in the 71st minute on another assist from Flick. Presley Pennekamp found the back of the net at the 75:12 mark to increase Xavier’s lead to 6-0. Penny Brill scored the seventh and final goal in the final minutes with the assist from Sara Parker. Erbach’s three-goal outing marked her second hat trick of the season. UConn’s Chioma Okafor and Kelly Monaco were the lone two Huskies who tallied a shot in the game. Teammate Ava Yamas made four saves in goal in 75 minutes of action, while Elizabeth Diblasi recorded one save in 15 minutes.

Georgetown’s Henley Tippins scored the team’s first goal of the game at the 32:36 mark. Maja Lardner secured the 2-0 win in the second half off a double assist from Shay Montgomery and Tippins. Creighton struggled on offense, with only one shot taken by Abigail Santana. Goalkeeper Alyssa Zalac made six saves for Creighton.
