NEW YORK – On Saturday, March 15, the BIG EAST Conference will host the fourth annual BIG EAST Undergraduate Research Poster Symposium at Madison Square Garden, the morning of the Men’s Basketball Conference Championship Game. All 11 Conference institutions will face off in an academic competition featuring research projects ranging across a variety of disciplines. The event will take place in person at the World’s Most Famous Arena from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. ET.
Each research project team is comprised of currently enrolled undergraduate students at one of the 11 BIG EAST institutions. Overall, 55 teams will compete on Saturday with five teams representing each school. Teams of one or two individuals will present their research to judges, who will rank them on a variety of factors including: visual quality content, introduction, results & discussion, presentation style and responses to questions.
For each criterion, judges will grade how clearly posters are constructed and displayed, if there is sufficient background to understand the problem or hypothesis, how the presenters engage the audience and how the presenter demonstrates a their knowledge base. The winners will receive medals and in-game recognition at the BIG EAST Men’s Basketball Championship game.
