Georgetown, Denver Set to Play in 2026 BIG EAST Women’s Lacrosse Championship

DENVER - The 2026 BIG EAST Women's Lacrosse Championship presented by JEEP concludes Saturday at 3 p.m. ET/1 p.m. MT when No. 1 seed Denver plays No. 2 seed Georgetown at Peter Barton Stadium. In Thursday's semifinals, the Pioneers defeated No. 4 seed Marquette 17-6, while the Hoyas outlasted No. 3 seed UConn 12-6. The winner of the BIG EAST Championship receives the league's automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Championship. 

Denver is making its ninth consecutive title game appearance and seeking its sixth straight BIG EAST title. The Pioneers have a 14-3 (.824) all-time record in the BIG EAST Championship, with all their appearances coming under current head coach Liza Kelly. 

Georgetown is making its first championship game appearance since 2022 and is seeking its first BIG EAST title since 2019.

The Pioneers defeated the Hoyas 11–5 when the two teams met last week during regular season. Denver’s offense was led by attacker Olivia Ripple, who scored a game-high four goals, while the defense was anchored by Megan Klingenberg, who recorded four ground balls and four caused turnovers. For Georgetown, Lucy Nace tallied a game-high six draw controls, and Anne McGovern led the offense with two goals. Denver holds a 12–5 advantage in the all-time series.
