Three Teams Earn BIG EAST Men’s Soccer Weekly Honors

BIG EAST Offensive Player/Freshman of the Week
Tomiwa Adewumi, Marquette, Fr., F (Pittsburgh, Pa.)
Adewumi recorded his first career hat trick in Marquette’s 3-2 victory over Southern Indiana, scoring all three goals over the final 22 minutes. After re-entering the match with the Golden Eagles trailing 1-0, Adewumi scored the equalizer before striking again to level the match at 2-2 while Marquette was playing with 10 men. He completed the hat trick with the game-winning penalty kick in the 87th minute. The hat trick was the first by a BIG EAST player this season and the first by a Golden Eagle since 2022. Adewumi’s eight goals lead the BIG EAST and are the most by a freshman nationally.

BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Tate Lampman, Georgetown, Jr., D (Ann Arbor, Mich.)
Lampman delivered a standout two-way performance in Georgetown’s 5-1 victory over No. 23 High Point, totaling two goals and an assist for five points. The junior defender factored into three of the Hoyas’ five goals and finished second among all BIG EAST players in points for the week. Lampman also helped anchor a Georgetown back line that limited the nationally ranked Panthers to a single goal as the Hoyas earned a lopsided ranked win.

BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Brett Kaminski, Akron, Jr., GK (Cooper City, Fla.)
Kaminski helped Akron to a pair of victories over No. 18 Cornell and Saint Louis. With the Zips leading Saint Louis 2-1 in the final minute, Kaminski stopped a penalty kick before making another save with eight seconds remaining to preserve the road victory. He also made a key diving stop with the score tied 2-2 against Cornell, helping set the stage for Akron’s late game-winner.

BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Thomas O’Rourke, Akron, R-So., M (East Patchogue, N.Y.)
O’Rourke recorded a goal and two assists during Akron’s 2-0 week. He scored the tying goal and assisted the game-winner with 59 seconds remaining against No. 18 Cornell before setting up the winning goal in the 84th minute at Saint Louis.
Matthew Reed, Creighton, Sr., D (Felton, Del.)
Reed scored in both matches during Creighton’s 1-0-1 week, converting penalty kicks against Saint Mary’s and Yale to extend his goal-scoring streak to six consecutive matches.
Noeh Hernandez, DePaul, Sr., M (Bridgeview, Ill.)
Hernandez registered two assists in DePaul’s 2-2 road draw at Bowling Green, tying for the BIG EAST lead in assists during the week.
Matthew Van Horn, Georgetown, Sr., M (North Pole, Alaska)
Van Horn recorded a pair of assists in Georgetown’s 5-1 victory over No. 23 High Point, tying for the league lead in assists during the week.
Ekene Okeke, Xavier, Sr., D (Houston, Texas)
Okeke played all 90 minutes in Xavier’s 1-0 road victory at St. Thomas, helping the Musketeers post their second consecutive shutout while limiting the Tommies to just two shots and zero shots on goal.
