Providence Duo, UConn Freshman Earn BIG EAST Field Hockey Weekly Honors

BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Lily Procaccianti, Providence, Sr., F

Procaccianti scored four goals in a 2-0 week for the Friars, totaling eight points on five shots, all on goal.  On Sept. 4, she registered her first career hat trick during a record-setting 11-0 victory over New Haven, converting all three of her shots as Providence set a program record for most goals in a game.  On Sept. 6, she scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in a 3-0 road victory over in-state rival Bryant University, converting one of her two shots on goal.  Overall, her four goals helped lead the Friars to a pair of shutout victories and marked a standout weekend for the senior forward.

BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Johanna Mähner, Providence, Jr., M

Mähner played a key role in a pair of shutout victories for the Friars last week, contributing one goal and one assist for three points across the two matches.  On Sept. 4 against New Haven, she helped anchor a defensive unit that did not allow a single shot attempt, while also recording her first assist of the season.  On Sept. 6, Mähner and the Friars’ defense locked down Bryant in the final three quarters, allowing just two shot attempts after surrendering four in the opening quarter.  She also provided an offensive spark, giving Providence a 2-0 lead less than a minute into the fourth quarter when she knocked home a rebound off a penalty corner.  The goal marked her first of the season and the second of her career.

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Lucy Zich, UConn, Fr., F

Zich earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors for the second consecutive week after helping UConn to a 1-1 record.  Zich turned in a three-point performance in Friday’s 3-0 victory at Brown, recording one goal and one assist on four shots.  She added another shot in Sunday’s 1-0 setback at Harvard, finishing the weekend with one goal, one assist and five shots across the two contests.  After earning her first career BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honor last week, Zich continued to make her presence felt offensively and provided a consistent spark for the Huskies.

BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Kate McManaman, Georgetown, Jr., M/F

McManaman helped the Hoyas to a 1-1 weekend, recording two goals, three assists, and seven points across a pair of road contests.  She opened the weekend with an assist in Friday’s 3-1 loss at Towson before delivering a career-best performance in Sunday’s 6-0 shutout at Lock Haven.  McManaman recorded two goals and two assists for six points against the Bald Eagles, putting all four of her shots on goal.  Her two goals and two assists were both career highs, while her six-point effort helped Georgetown earn its second shutout of the season.

Josefina Tomasi, Liberty, Jr., F

Tomasi made an impact on both ends of the field, helping the No. 13 Flames to a perfect 2-0 weekend with one goal, one assist, three points, one game-winning goal, five shots and four shots on goal, while also recording a defensive save.  In Friday’s 5-1 victory at Saint Joseph’s, Tomasi assisted on Pia Iapichino’s first career goal in the 42nd minute and added a defensive save late in the second quarter, her second of the season and sixth of her career. She delivered the game-winning moment on Sunday at James Madison, scoring in the 71st minute to lift Liberty to a 2-1 overtime victory with a beautiful redirect off a ball sent in front of the cage by Julieta Tornati.  The goal marked Tomasi’s first of the 2026 season and the 15th of her career in 42 games.

Julieta Tornati, Liberty, So., D/M

Tornati led the No. 13 Flames offensively during a perfect 2-0 weekend, pacing the team with two goals and five points while tying for the team lead with one assist.  Tornati opened the weekend with a goal in Friday’s 5-1 victory at Saint Joseph’s.  She was involved in both goals in Sunday’s dramatic 2-1 overtime win at James Madison, scoring the game’s opening goal with a beautiful flick into the left side of the cage on a penalty corner before setting up Josefina Tomasi’s game-winning redirect with a perfectly placed ball on Liberty’s second penalty corner of overtime. Through four games this season, Tornati shares the team lead with three goals and leads the Flames with seven points. She also helped Liberty’s defense limit Saint Joseph’s and James Madison to just two goals and 14 combined shots, including eight on goal.

Lucia Magro, Temple, So., M/F

Magro powered the Owls’ offense across two road contests, scoring three goals and accounting for three of the team’s five goals on the week.  Magro found the back of the cage in the final minute of Temple’s 4-3 loss at Lafayette before delivering a pair of goals in Sunday’s 2-1 victory at Wagner.  Against the Seahawks, she opened the scoring with a penalty-corner goal before converting a penalty stroke for the eventual game-winning goal. Magro finished the week with three goals, six points and six shots, extending her goal-scoring streak to three consecutive games.  Through four games this season, she has four goals, tied for second in the BIG EAST.

Gemma Lysaght, Villanova, Sr., D

Lysaght continued to make an impact on both ends of the field, starting both games over the weekend while helping the Wildcats earn a pair of strong defensive performances.  In Friday’s 2-0 loss at Penn State, Lysaght helped guide the defensive unit in holding the Nittany Lions to just two goals, a season low, while recording three shots, including one on goal.  She followed with a three-point performance in Sunday’s 10-0 shutout of New Haven, scoring one goal and adding an assist on six shots.  Lysaght also helped anchor a defensive effort that held the Chargers to just one shot and one penalty corner in the shutout victory.
