WSOC Notes - 10.1.21
NEW YORK – A winner would have claimed the solo spot atop the BIG EAST women’s soccer standings on Thursday night but Butler and St. John’s played to a 1-1 draw, creating a three-way tie in first place between the Bulldogs, Red Storm and No. 23 Georgetown. All three have seven points through their first three matches, edging Xavier and Marquette at six points. The Musketeers (3-0 over Villanova) and Golden Eagles (1-0 at Creighton) earned wins on Thursday night, as did the Hoyas (2-0 over DePaul), while UConn claimed its first BIG EAST victory of the young season with a 2-1 decision at Seton Hall. Highlighting this Sunday’s five-match slate is a nationally televised tilt between Georgetown and Providence. The Friars travel to the nationally ranked Hoyas at 2:30 p.m. ET in a match airing on FS1. The other four contests on the day will stream on the BIG EAST Digital Network presented by SoFi, available on FloSports.
