NEW YORK – Villanova erased an early deficit to rally and secure its first BIG EAST win of the season, highlighting a five-match Sunday in women’s soccer action. DePaul claimed its third straight win, Providence won for the third time in its last four matches, RV Georgetown remained undefeated on the season and RV Xavier earned win No. 12 in the other conference tilts. Five more matches are on the docket for this Thursday, including a battle between third-place teams Providence and Butler in Indianapolis at 1 p.m. ET. All five matches will stream live on the BIG EAST Digital Network presented by SoFi, available on FloSports.
Providence 3, Marquette 1
The Friars won for the third time in their last four outings, improving to 3-1-1 in BIG EAST play and 8-3-2 overall. Providence scored the match’s first three goals, with Meg Hughes, Hannah McNulty and Ava Brandt all scoring. Maggie Starker got Marquette (7-6-0, 3-3-0) on the board in the 87
th, scoring her team-high fourth goal of the season. Emma Bodmer had four saves in the win while Mikki Easter had two stops in the loss.

DePaul knocked off UConn for the first time in series history as Ellie Mink scored her first career goal. Mink scored in the 57
th minute while the Blue Demon defense did not allow a single UConn shot to be on target. DePaul outshot the Huskies 10-8 while winning keeper Mollie Eriksson did not record a save. UConn’s Kaitlyn Mahoney had six saves in the setback. The win was DePaul’s third straight as it improved to 3-2-0 in BIG EAST play and 6-7-0 overall. UConn moved to 6-6-0 overall and 2-3-0 in league play.

Gia Vicari’s eighth goal of the season came in the 53
rd minute at St. John’s as the Hoyas claimed their second straight BIG EAST shutout victory. Georgetown remained unbeaten on the year (8-0-6, 4-0-2), while extending its second-place lead to four points over Butler and Providence. Allie Augur had three saves to earn the win as GU outshot St. John’s (6-4-2, 2-2-1) by an 8-5 margin. Naya Lipkens had two stops in the setback.

The Musketeers remained in first place thanks to a 4-0 win at Seton Hall. Chloe Netzel scored what proved to be the game winner in the 12
th minute before Shelby Sallee, Grace Menser and Emma Marcus tacked on insurance scores. XU kept Seton Hall goalkeeper Grace Gordon busy as Gordon made nine saves on the afternoon. Olivia Jenkins made two stops for Xavier (12-1-1, 5-1-0), which outshot The Hall (6-8-0, 1-5-0) by a 23-5 margin.

th before McInroy’s winner late in the contest. The host Wildcats (7-7-0, 1-5-0) held a 15-11 advantage in shots while Creighton led 7-1 in corner kicks. Megan McClay made two saves in the win while Keelan Terrell had four stops in the loss.
