BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Quenzi Huerman, Seton Hall, Jr., M (Vannes, France)
Huerman scored a pair of goals over the week, as the Pirates went 1-0-1 to remain tied atop the BIG EAST standings with 13 points. Huerman's match-winning goal on Wednesday against Marquette came from beyond midfield, as he caught the Golden Eagles' goalkeeper out of position in the 74th minute to put the Pirates ahead for good, 3-2. On Saturday, Huerman stepped up to bury the game-tying penalty kick in the 90th minute to earn a 1-1 draw at home against Creighton. It was the second game-tying 90th minute penalty kick for the Pirates this season. Of Huerman's seven goals this season, six of them have either tied the match or put the Pirates ahead.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Kieran Sargeant, Georgetown, So., D (League City, Texas)
Sargeant started and played all but four minutes in a pair of BIG EAST victories last week, helping Georgetown move into a tie for first in the overall league standings with 13 points. The sophomore defender logged 176 minutes on the back line and capped the weekend with an assist against Villanova. On Wednesday against Providence, he helped the Hoya defense limit the Friars to just five shots and one shot on goal in a 1-0 win at home. On Saturday against Villanova, he registered an assist on the match-winning goal, placing Georgetown in front 3-0 of an eventual 3-2 road victory at Higgins Soccer Complex.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Cole Jensen, Xavier, R-Jr., GK (Council Bluffs, Iowa)
Continuing to act as a brick wall in goal for the Musketeers, Jensen helped Xavier (9-0-5, 3-0-4 BIG EAST) remain unbeaten on the year with a 1-0-1 week in BIG EAST action. Playing all 180 minutes in net, Jensen posted a 1.00 GAA, while corralling 10 saves. Overall, the redshirt-junior posted a .833 save percentage across the pair of outings.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Zenden Hart, St. John’s, Fr., GK (Booker Bay, Australia)
Hart stepped in and had his most productive match of the year, making a season-high six stops in a 2-1 win over DePaul on Wednesday. His only blemish came on an own goal in the second half, resulting in a weekly conference-high 0.857 save percentage.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Gabriel Gjergji, Butler, Fifth-Year, GK
In a 1-1-0 week for the Butler Bulldogs, Gjergji played a key role corralling 10 saves and posting a 0.833 save percentage. In a 2-0 win over Villanova, Gjergji made six saves in his third complete shutout of the season.
Okem Chime, Connecticut, So., F
Chime played a crucial role in UConn’s win over Maine-Fort Kent Wednesday, tallying both goals in a 2-1 victory. Overall, in a 1-0-1 week for the Huskies, Chime played 101 minutes and posted four shots and two shots on goal.
Gil Santos, Providence, Gr., F
In a 1-1-0 week for Providence, Santos tallied the match-winning goal on Saturday in a 2-1 win over Butler.
Einar Lye, St. John’s, Gr.., M
Lye found the back of the net for the second straight match, scoring the opening goal in a 2-1 win over DePaul on Wednesday night. After missing all of non-conference play, Lye has scored three times in the team's last five games, a stretch that has seen St. John's go 2-1-2.
Alejandro Steinwascher, Xavier, Gr., F
Steinwascher helped Xavier remain unbeaten on the year with a 1-0-1 week in BIG EAST action, earning the start in both matches. He scored the game-winning goal in a 3-1 win over Creighton and capped the week with four shots and two shots on goal.
